SFV has a pretty small online player base so I run into the same players a lot and it is kind of neat seeing people go up in rank with you. Anyway there is this one mother fucker, this guy that will never ever run it back online, no matter what but whenever you beat him he will want the run back and I always run it back because I have honor.

Taunt button is the equivalent of the middle finger in real life. How a person reacts to a taunt is how they would react if you gave them the middle finger.

Anyone experience the opposite effect taunting intends? Every time I play competitive I'm kinda impartial and almost halfhearted because I know in the end it's just a game. Suddenly a taunt occurs. It's the source of my power
I play a lot of Soul Calibur V and amongst other advantages- you can cancel taunts whenever you want and people don't ever realize this.
It means you can use it to mask inputs for specials or weird inputs- it's also a great way to fish for guard impacts and counters because people always attack it 100% of the time. I'm also really momentum-based in my play so it lets me pressure my opponents into attacking into a bad situation when they might have the upper hand otherwise.
Finally, Astaroth and Raphael taunts are easily the most insulting and I hate Soul Calibur players because at this point they're all shitty waifufags and self insert donut steel edgelords so it's nice to have a button I can press to call them faggots

Nah, people will do that when you fight pretty even matches. The same situation that the guy I quoted happened to me quite a few times, except I'd accept a rematch just fine.

I rarely do. Usually in situations where it's just really cool, like if I can land a situational midcombo taunt in a game I will go for it. But that's not really taunting so much as just stylin'.

"Tasteful" taunting seem pretty tough. Like, making it so that it doesn't make you look like the faggot. You often get people, for example, teabag / taunt after a stun or hard knockdown. And I always think that's just the lamest shit, big whoop, you got a couple of resets on me. And taunt while I'm incapacitated. Very humiliating. Even more so when they bail out of the runback afterwards. I can't help but feel in situations like that, taunting shows how tilted you yourself are more so than anything else.

OH I do love me some "counter taunts" though. When someone teabags you earlier in the round, and then you do like a super slow deliberate teabag right before taking the game in the end. As if to say "well, that sucked of you didn't it".
