It depends what you're looking for from Conker.

The entire game is supposed to be a novelty - a FUCK YOU to cutesy 90s platformers. Part of that novelty is how it shifts through many genres.

If you expect anything more than that then of course you'll be disappointed. Part of that package was also the best graphics of 5th generation, and the best audio on N64.

Also the multiplayer was awesome with or without friends. Replaying a few parts of the story or the whole thing is really fun, love the music and the feeling it brings each stage

I went back and played Conker a year ago and came to realize that the game is just one big glorified tech demo. Only the first couple of sections of the game could be considered platforming, and any section after are new game mechanics executed in a mediocre fashion. Also, the amount of padding in "do this menial task 3 times" like feeding the rat the cheese are pretty lame. It s got good atmosphere, but it's not a great game by any means.
