HOLY SHIT, I FEEL SO RETARDED AND RELIEVED AT THE SAME TIME.

I got the Recon Tech edition. Bluetooth is pretty sweet
>>
>>386726006
There's a lot of things lacking with the DS4.

1. Non-user replaceable batteries.
2. If you have an older model of DS4, you cannot connect wired, it's bluetooth only.
3. Compressed audio quality with built-in dac
4. poor battery life
5. average build quality

Wheras the One...

1. User replacable batteries.
2. All controllers do xbox Wireless and wired, and Type 3 adds bluetooth as an option.
3. lossless audio through DAC when using Xbox Wireless
4. Average battery life
5. great build quality
>>
>>386726091
Type 3 then, nice. You liking the rubber grips?
>>
>>386725916
Some games benefit from the super claw grip, like Galak-Z.
>>
I actually bought a xbox one controller today after my ds3 died. I instantly like the triggers more as well as the tactile dpad and the button placement being closer together.
>>
>>386726182
I like the xbone controller more but replacing the battery in a ds4 takes literally 5 minutes max and using AA batteries in 2017 is idiotic. Audio quality sucks through both.
>>
>>386726203
Absolutely. Now that I hold it right the grip actually does its job when I got all three fingers on it. The only thing I have to get used to are the tiny thumbsticks and the position of the d-pad, as my muscle memory always wants to go up like on the Dualshock.

It's a fine controller though. I'm wondering if I should've gone with the Elite instead.
>>
>>386726434
and how long does it take to receive the proprietary battery in the mail or send out the DS4 for official replacement? 1-10 DAYS.

How long does it take to swap out AAs? 4 seconds.

Get eneloops. user-replacable batteries, recharhable or non, are a strength.
>>
>>386726527
Do you require bluetooth or plan to main this on a steamlink? If so, then skip the Elite, but if not, there is a DAMNED good deal for a cheap elite right now...

If you are interested, I'll find and explain.
>>
>>386725916
literally who the fuck does this. i just tried it and it felt like the most uncomfortable and retarded shit ever
>>
>>386726549
I have eneloops and that doesn't excuse the fact that you still have to spring an extra $15 for rechargable batteries and an extra $20 for a wireless PC dongle. The ds4 battery never has to be replaced and works wirelessly with PC without a dongle.
>>
>>386726549
I absolutely fucking hate having to deal with AA batteries. I'd rather take a shitty 10 hour battery life that can be recharged than having to deal with AA batteries all the time.

If the battery gets fucked in a couple of years of use, then I don't mind spending ten minutes opening the controller up and replacing the battery.
>>
>>386726182
What about the feel?
>>
>>386726879
Ergonomics? Everyone's hands are different, but I'd say the One (specifically Type 3) wins due to the width and triggers. DS4 is slightly wider than the One, and the triggers have to be pressed down. The One is a little less wide and you can press the triggers down, or in, or down AND in, so it's always comfy.

The correct solution is to just use one finger going horzontally across and adjuist slightly as you need to to push either the front or back triggers

>>
>>386727183
the bumpers just switches weapons and slowly at that. why would you need to have your fingers on them all the time?
>>
I picked up an Elite pad. Note that if you're not braindead and don't run W10, you can still use all the features like button remapping by running it through a VM.

It's a fucking hassle, but you can save 2 profiles on the device itself which should cover you most of the time.
>>
>>386728472
Have you played AC4/4A? Two buttons are used for shooting, one is used for boosting and one is used to activate hover mode, so you don't need to press that one all that much unless it's a water map. Sure you're not mixing it up with V/VD? That one didn't need the claw.
>>
>>386728503
Does the Elite really have a shoddy build? People meme the fuck out of that video but I've always wondered if there's any truth to it. It's quite literally the most expensive controller I've ever seen but it does look good.
>>
>>386726549
It's not 2011 anymore and you're turning into an old and ugly woman. Tripfags have got to go.
>>
>>386728606
Not that anon, but I have used Elite at my buddys place and it was the best controller I've ever used. I'd buy one if I had more use for it other than just sometimes playing on my PC.
>>
>>386725842
Can you still not use it on Windows 7?
>>
>>386728675
>I'd buy one if I had more use for it other than just sometimes playing on my PC.

That's exactly how I feel. There are plenty of good used deals on Amazon between 89-99 bucks but I feel it's still too much.
>>
>>386728814
over bluetooth i mean
>>
>>386728606
I haven't had any problems with it. I doubt that it's really worth the money unless you've got it to spare, though.

It's nicer than other pads, but not 3 times the price nice, which is what I paid for it, 60 bucks vs the 20 I paid for my 360 pad a decade ago. If you're paying retail, it's a rip-off.

The sticks feel way nicer, but they have a shitty design that's too small. I'd kill for a chink replacement nub that was just a hard copy of the 360 one. The back buttons are okay, you have to cut them down if you want any finger space to hold the thing though. The D-pad is an improvement, but it's still not up to par with something like a Saturn or SNES pad.

>>
>>386729454

>>
>>386725916
I try not to think about it, it gets uncomfortable otherwise.
>>
>>386729551
You switch a lot between running and aiming, it's one of the few games where it helps to keep both at the ready at least on the left side.

>Third person games on a keyboard and mouse.
How do you do it? I've tried it in Assassin's Creed, Dead Space, The Witcher, Just Cause 2, it's absolutely terrible and takes me out of the game completely and feels like absolute shit.
>>
>>386729764
Dead Space doesn't have tank controls, you can move and shoot simultaneously.
Plus DS, well the first two games anyway, are all about precise shots, which let you cripple enemies and save ammo. Much better with a mouse.
>>
>>386729825
I don't play all third person/over the shoulder games with kb+m, just the shooters. Obviously in TW3 and Dark Souls I use a controller.
I mean, did you seriously wait for Vanquish PC port just to play it with a controller again?
>>
>>386729825
>Just Cause 2
I absolutely need the mouse for quick and precise aiming in JC. I played it for several years on console but when I switched to PC and played it with mouse and keyboard, I couldn't go back. I wouldn't be able to do half the shit I always do while playing if I used a controller.
>>
>windows 10
>on pc
>on a console
nope
>>
>>386729914
Yes. I can't stand anything third person without controllers, shooters and action games, it just feels awful.
>>
The A button on my Xbox One S controller is kind of finicky, is there any way to fix this without needing to open it up?
>>
how reliable are 360 and xbone controllers when using them wirelessly on a PC? I dont own any xbox console so i have been using my DS4s via bluetooth at my PC and it fucking sucks. I keep getting connectivity issues so i bought extra long cables to fix that shit but its annoying...

So i am hoping maybe the wireless adapter for xbox controllers is at least better
>>
>le '3rd person shooters are awful on keyboard and mouse even though all that changes is the perspective and you're still using the exact same fucking reticle and iron sights to aim down' meme

Vanquish was a god-send using keyboard and mouse after completing it 5 times previously on 360 and PS3.
>>
>>386729846
I've always been a consolefag and I can aim perfectly on a controller.
>>

>aim assist and bullet magnetism is 'aiming perfectly' to consolefags
>>
>>386730491
I never use aim assist. What games have bullet magnetism?
>>
>>386730410
Good for you I guess. But aiming perfectly on a controller is a far cry from aiming perfectly with a mouse.
>>
>>386730185
Xbox One S controller works flawlessly wireless via Bluetooth. You probably have an old DS4 which sucks on PC, the new Pro controller has a much better bluetooth connection on PC. Source: I own both.
>>
>>386730552
I think most people have trouble aiming with a joystick because they like to jam the fucking thumbsticks all the way in a given direction
>>
>>386730531
Most console shooters have aim assist turned on by default man, you use it without even realizing it

>>386728606

I've put my elite through the ringer for at least a year now and it's held up great. I don't know what these autists are doing to wreck them but the build quality is top notch. All the removable pieces slot into place cleanly and have a nice weight to them. It's a bit heavy if you play wireless but I remove the batteries and just play wired to keep the weight low. I would say that the build quality relative to price is better than popular third party alternatives such as Scuf, having owned one of those myself in the past for the 360 as well
>>
>>386725842
you know that picture was made for the shitty bumpers of v1?

Xbox friends, can you explain me how do you deal with quick dpad inputs while moving the left analog? That's what kept me from Xbox controllers the whole time, with the Dualshock I can simply claw with my left index to press the dpad if I want to, for example, switch weapons in Das (or any game where dpad are quickslots), use a contextual action in Gtao etc etc, on Xbox I feel I can't unless I also stop using the analog

Inaccessible batteries are a straight up dick move

there's no reason whatsoever for a company to do this to their customers. If the battery wears, the product is dead and they either have to send it in for a replacement which is always a hassle, even if things go perfectly, or the company jews them out of a warranty just because they wanted the convenience of replacing it themselves.
