what?

I had a couple of login attempts from shithole countries that managed to phish my fuckretarded password, I guess. That ones on me. So I set up whatever security and stopped fucking around.

Two-step verification is a standard practice with a lot of clients. I haven't received any telemarketing calls or the like so I guess they've stayed true to their privacy policy.

>Trading cards take several days to sell on the marketplace because I don't use authenticator

>>
>>386720679
2 factor auth, so your account doesn't get stolen, because you're probably a retard that logs in with "password1234"
if, however, you have a somewhat secure password (won't be cracked by a dictionary/rainbowtable attack) and have decent antimalware then you'll probably be fine.
>>
>>386720853
even worse i went to go sell some shit on the market and was told because i haven't made a purchase on steam in 1 year and that a hold was put on my account.
>>
>>386720929
Hah. Probably to make sure it wasn't some bot claiming the account.

because retards use the same password for every site

see

>>
>>386721031
Pretty complicated ones. Mix of upper, lower, and numerals.

Basically TSXchuntoasT865, switched through a couple variants. Current is closer to 65@TeRRi_fadd~88, completely unique for every required site and two-step auth set up, no fucking about.

No, those aren't remotely the passwords. Just inb4 in case some fag replies and thinks so.

>>386720853
This is also me. It's a pain in the ass, but I can still dump cards if I lowball a bit more than I usually would.
Miss playing games with gems and the market like I used to, but if steam wants to treat me like a baby, there's not much to do about it.

Blame BRs/Ruskies, their mischief has sent Steam into security overdrive.

Wasn't the chinks for once.
>>
>give them your real name
>give them your email
>give them your CC details

>phone number is over the line
I hope you're buying steam cards with cash then, otherwise you're a fucking hypocrite. Also just get a burner? You can swap phones way more easily than a house.

Honestly this has always seemed like anti-steamfags trying to drum up controversy when there isn't one. Steam has a lot of shitty practices you could be attacking and not this weak shit.
>>
>>386720826
you can have 2 FA with the phone app, instead of recieving SMS each time you log in.
and, although this isn't for steam, but for most other services, you can link their 2FA with google authenticator, which is handy for having one authenticator with all your timed passcodes.
>>
>>386721549
>>give them your real name
>>give them your email
>>give them your CC details

>>phone number is over the line

i literally do none of this. I only buy steam cards. I'll never store my information where it can be stolen especially when you hear about steam/psn getting btfo.
>>
What is the point of trading cards? I just sell all of mine I get for like 10 cents a piece

Why is battle.net the only sensible company still?

>Token log-in
>Remember this login source? Y/N
>Y
>Fucking go straight to your games never login again
>Chang and Ivan get cockblocked if logging in from anywhere but your personal desktop

Square Enix has SOME excuse, being retarded and all, but Ubi/Steam/EA/Microsoft? No excuse. It's 2017.
>>
>>386720853
Emulate the android steam app.
>>
>>386721897
Steam guard does exactly that, actually, and did before they started the authenticator bullshit.
Apparently that doesn't save enough idiots though, and they preferred shitting out a one-off program to do their extra security for them, rather than lose the fraction of a percent of their profits hiring a few more people to process the complaints of retards.
>>
>>386721897
Can't speak for Ubi/EA, but Microsoft and Steam keep track of all your active sessions and block any suspicious activity, regardless of auth.

I know because I fucked up. Bit of a mess. But yeah, Microsoft even let's you go back and see every login attempt from every desktop and IP as far back as at least a few years, and let's you deactivate auto-logged-in sessions remotely.
>>
>>386722137
I don't believe Steam Guard had the same degree of two step auth as B.net before the changes.
People were still logging in with Password1234 and crying to Valve about it.
>>
>>386720756
you some kind of loser?
>>
>>386720853
Just use Bluestacks to emulate an Android device. It's what I do and it works fine.
>>
>>386722347
I can talk to people through a pc, no need to pay monthly to do it anywhere I want.

>>386722306
I don't play blizzshit, so I don't know how they do it now.

How steam guard works is whatever you log in from, has to get a verify token which you confirm with your registered email address. Log in to steam from the same computer but on a browser/different browser? New token required. New hardware? New token required, etc ad shittinum. Some people are too retarded to fucking turn it on though, no matter how many times steam yells at them about it.

It's a pretty old system that honestly a fuckload of companies are using - a decade ago I got suspicious of NCsoft because they were using some third party's system to do it for them.
