And since it technically included 1.6, it was a great deal. My friends used to to be jelly and complain about my CZ skins in 1.6 tho'.

Source for custom game modes (surfing, multigames, deathrun, jail, climb, etc.)

1.6 for nostalgiafags, theres no reason to play it these days, especially when youre just getting started.

not really, it was only active for about 8 months before source came out and cz was all but forgotten. the game had a tumultuous dev cycle and was scrapped multiple times over the course of 4 years, by the time it came out nobody cared anymore.

I got a VAC ban over this game actually yet no scarlet letter on my Steam account. I remember CS players were told they would get Condition Zero for free and when we didn't, I started using aimbots and shit. Got a lengthy perma ban but when I sent a lengthy email explaining my frustrations, Valve lifted the ban and no marks on my record. I take that as an indicator that they knew they fucked up.

Yeah but source has way better movement, more content, better server scripts, and 1.6 has the stupid mid air walking animations making aerial combat a guessing game so everyone is just using shotguns or awp.

I agree but the playerbase is tiny compared GO, i dont like it either but its dying and CS is such an incredibly hard game to master that if youre going to invest the time and effort to do so it should be in CSGO imo.

Unless you already know its in and outs (i.e nostalgiafags like us) theres no reason to get into it.

Its not completely random but enough to be unpredictable, it's impossible to know where every single shot lands and that is done on purpose to keep the game fresh.
I played CS for years before steam was even a thing and a shitload of source too but it isn't a good game and certainly not suitable for competition, leave that to quake.
