Do I need to upgrade and go with skylake?
>>386680528
Ditch intel, get superior AMD.
Same build here, still running games like a charm. Dont waste money until it cant run vidya well anymore.
>>386680528
I5 6600k or i5 7600k. Both practically the same but its your choice.
>>386680528
>4690k
nigga please
im still crushing everything with a 2600
I've got a 4790k. Don't plan on upgrading for at least 5 years
>>386680528
No reason unless you also feel like you need more cores/threads, upgrading to say an i5 7600k wouldn't really be worth it.
Just a few days ago I OC'd my 4670k to 4.2GHz pretty easily afew days ago which adds a bit to its lifespan. I heard the 4690k OC's a little better even so you should definitely be doing that if you haven't already.
>16gb ram
>gtx 970
buy a console. you proved you cant even build a pc
>>386680631
good luck not being able to emulate jack shit
>>386680981
i5-6600k owner here. There is zero reason to get either of these CPUs when Ryzen 5 exists.

The mark of the literal retard.

I like how in all those games except for crysis 3, the i5 7600 performs better.
>>386681435
nobody has made any posts like that.

>>386680631
>>386681294
He would need to get a 1080 Ti to even get close to any bottlenecks, and even then you probably get more stable performance with the 7700k
I'd rather wait two or three years to see if AMD actually gets good non-muhcoresthreads performance or intel gets more cores with better threading.
>>386681261
Ryzen and TR have sse4 so that's a plus. The clock is just a little low and no emulators except dolphin multithread.
That CPU has a year or two left in it, besides Battlefield 1 I don't see any games that really need a better CPU
There a. Article on PC gamer to get a 512 GB SSD for $120 just get that fuck the tb until u need it or a sale
>>386680528
no, still running on 2500k, no issues whatsoever
I have my 4790k overclocked to 4.7GHz with a GTX 1080 SLI build. Running everything fine and no issues, have no desire to upgrade anytime soon.
>>386682212
Did you delid it?

damn you people really love your memes
>>386682291
Nope. Running it on liquid.
Hmmmm
Don't see a reason to upgrade now, wait maybe like next year or so.
>>386681590
3.5 meme aside it's not an awful card for the price, not sure why you'd buy one now when the 1000 series exists though
Amd 16 meme cores.. still shit single thread runs wow and other mmo like shit..
>>386681590
>Mid-range video card from 2014 that still runs 1080p games on high to highest settings in 2017 with constant 60fps
Yeah. What a terrible purchase.

Good goy..
who else /midrange/ here?
>>386682371
you cretin it wont OC on LN if it cant make contact with the IHS

reporting.
>>386680528
For gaming, no. It's already powerful enough.
Not worth. A Kaby lake upgrade wouldn't yield too many extra fps, and the current Ryzens have basically the same gaming performance as the haswells anyway.
When will RAM stop being fucking expensive?
>>386680528
No.
???
>>386685316
prices of both ram and ssds are expected to go down next year

>>386687371
well congrats on spending a grand to play on settings that were bleeding edge 7 years ago anyway, champ. hopefully reddit can help you pick out a snazzy new 1440p monitor in 2022
>>386681525
Fuck off you shill
Im still running a 2500k and now you can buy a ryzen 3 1200 for $100.
But I still dont see the need to upgrade
>>386686965
Its definitely a plus if unnecessary. Beyond 16 however is pointless completely unless you 3D model or compose music or do video editing
Off topic, but I still play with a gtx 460, kek, it doesn't even have 1gb of vram. Not being able to play the new more demanding games honestly hasn't been such a bad thing. It's actually made me finish a lot of games that I previously never touched in my library. Ori and the Blind forest, Dishonored, Darkest Dungeon (I'm loving that game, god damn), Hotline Miami, DmC, Rimworld, Transistor. Everytime, I find a new game to play that I can also run, it prolongs me upgrading my comp.
I think when Cyberpunk 2077 comes out, I'll finally bite the bullet.
>>386680528
>4690k
The OC to 4.2Ghz is trivial - do that before considering other processors.
