I personally thought it was incredibly middle of the road. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. Some of the music was pretty good like Tropical Coast Act 3's and Sky Road Act 2's and the villains were probably some of my least favorite Sonic villains of all time. So one-dimensional.

It was a mess, I actually liked the idea of making Sonic running with a trigger button, but the stages felt like they were originally only test levels for the new control scheme than properly levels for the game.

It's aggressively mediocre. That's why. I think it might be the most bland and boring mainline Sonic game in existence.

Too many gimmick and 2D levels, when the best levels were stages like Windy Hill 1 and Sky Road 1.

This game frustrated me because it's not bad but it's also not good. If Sega hadent freaked out and decided arbitrarily that it was a dud then Lost world 2 would have been fucking great. That's what Segas problem has been with Sonic. They don't flesh out an idea. They don't improve on it. They just what out a game and if it's not 100% received immediately they Chuck it and start over. It's so frustrating.
