That's not a brainlet thing. Most games bombard you with lore shit like books and audio logs thinking that you will care about their boring world. Very few games ever actually have background fluff worth sifting through.

I've played through games like Deus Ex, L.A. Noire, GTA IV, Mass Effect etc. and I have no clue what the plots or the characters were about. For all I know:
Deus Ex was a game about sneaking in places and shooting at robot men.
L.A. Noire was about driving around and staring at bottles until I got to shoot people.
GTA IV was about shooting people and driving around with cousin.
Mass Effect was about shipping alien homosexuals from planet to planet until I got to end credits.

I like games like Doom and Duke Nukem because I get to just run and gun.

Something like that. I need to really _really_ put my mind into something if I want to comprehend what the fuck is going on. Puzzles I can do, I'm really good at those, but when there's something that requires that "human knowledge", that's where the troubles begin. When playing games like Duke Nukem the progression is very clear and linear, no need to think someone's motivation to get enjoyment. Just shoot everything, collect the right colored key, enter the door indicated by the card color, repeat.
When playing games like The Witcher, shit gets really frustrating really fast.

If the game enjoyment comes from 50% of gameplay, and 50% of plot, it means I will only enjoy half of the game. I enjoyed The Witcher a lot. It was like a family vacation to a strange country. No idea what the fuck is going on, but I got to see cool sights and do things I normally couldn't do. But I still felt bad because I literally missed out from big chunk of the game because I just couldn't understand the characters.

No, what I meant to say is that "IQ in the top 99%" is something you can say about your average programmer, for example.
There are so many people, and most aren't developed to their potential due to lack of food or stimulation, so the top 1% is not uncommon in certain environments.

CK2 especially is baby's first paradox game. You're talking about Hearts of Iron IV based on your list, certainly not 2 or 3 with the games you included alongside it. Hearts of Iron IV is stripped down and basic too.

I agree IQ in many ways is a meaningless meme and people put way too much emphasis on it. Of course it's good for chart out the problem solving cognitive capabilities, but someone being a human calculator doesn't automatically equal success. I know a person with a degree in astrophysics who is unemployed because he has no networking skills, and he simply can't market himself. I kind of get where you're coming from, though I don't have it with game stories. I can't seem to actually understand song lyrics unless I specifically focus on them. I hear the words, and when they don't line up with the song at hand it can be jarring, but I somehow just don't make any connections between the words in a song.
Regardless, that sounds like a pretty shit condition.
