I don't really like it. I was lucky enough to have it gifted by friends so I don't have to deal with buyer's remorse and pretend it's more than it really is.
The core gameplay is just boring, spending 5-10 minutes looting isn't particularly thrilling just to end up getting sniped from god knows where. Or you can drop to a popular area like the school and hope that you land near some good weapons, otherwise you'll dead in a minute.
It's just not very fun. That's my main problem with it: I'm not having fun.
And like many have mentioned before me: it's fun with friends. So what? So are many other games.

Besides currently the normal loot crates aren't bound to microtransactions, you can open them anytime, the Gamescom crates are to be opened with keys, and they said they use the revenue from the keys to fund the tournament that they are going to hold at Gamescom. It's really not that big of a deal

This thread is spammed like 10 times a day here. So let's just get these out of the way:
1. The game does nothing to really expand or change the BR formula, it's just Player Unknown making a cashgrab from his mod after he realized he could monetize it.
2. It runs like shit. Still. Even streamers with their donated NASA computers are running it below highest settings.
3. The RNG aspect of the game really burns my biscuits for some reason. Not really sure what they could do to address this, but when you heavily depend on finding certain attachments (like a 4x+ scope to get a chicken dinner) something needs to be done.
4. Walking simulator. Again, not really sure if the design of the game is the issue, or it just encourages the kind of play where everyone hides from each other until the final 20 or so while trying to find the best gear. It's almost like a loot-gathering game got a PVP setting tacked onto it.
5. The shooting and melee mechanics are wonky as fuck, but because you spend 80% of the game running/driving around, you tend not to notice how janky the gunplay is.
