The recession lasted a lot longer than 2010. Some people hardly felt it at all though. I was in college then so like many young people I was pretty isolated from this.

Depends, some professions were recession proof, but there's deserted small towns that have essentially been entirely foreclosed on.

That's why there's such a disparity between people saying it's not so bad and people who are one or two steps from rioting. Opinion on Obama probably reflects what reality they lived.

I was greatly affected by it, but sort of after the fact in 2011. My family lost our house and practically everything we owned. My dad took out my college savings and my mother's retirement/savings and left the state. My mom and I were forced to live in my grandmother's condo basement cause we were so dirt broke. Not a fun time.

My family's business was hit hard, but we made it through until 2013 where our store had to close due to an absurd rent. My father declared bankruptcy, but he's still taking work being paid under the table, my mother takes small time jobs in her hometown, and I have a bachelor's degree with no job for 8 months now because the computing industry thinks an entry level job requires 5 years of experience.
