Not really. Normally when you get married you already have enough presence in the family that the kids see you as a father figure, and you're their step parent, and they are your step-kids, or just children.

Calling your wife's children "my wife's children" means you got married to someone whose family you have literally no relationship with yet you'll still probably have to provide for, hence why it is seen as such a beta thing.

A girlfriend is just a girlfriend, you have no social obligation of providing anything to her; by the time you get married to her you'll probably see her kids as yours too, though.
