This is only barely video games but honestly your best resource would be 4chan. There are no reviewers out there who do a good job reviewing videogames. The only one I know of is that christian gamer one.

Peer review is the best method these days as long as you can tell the difference between trolling and information.

I like the honest trailer guy, at least he ends up talking about the actual gameplay most of the time.

Big websites sold out to AAA devs and marketing teams, as well as any other company that wants to market to "gamer culture" (doritos and mt dew being obvious examples). Basically anyone who was offering.
