So how do heroes work in dota? I was trying to ask during the dota tournament but people kept saying was 'baiting'.
From what I can tell each team has two player that do nothing but place wards and cast stun spells during fights, you have two laners that have fuck huge aoe damage spells, then you have one guy that sits there and farms until he becomes a right clicking machine and autoattacks people down.

The objective of the game is to run around in a bum squad and stun lock one guy with your team, if you see the enemy team coming for you, you just have to hide in the forest or teleport away.
