Pretty much why I dropped the game again after coming back for Tomb. I had 895 and did good on parses but the guild I joined wouldn't let me join their progression until I had 920+ and they were progressing through Heroic.

If the content wasn't made so much easier by overgearing, fewer people would do it. Further, the gearwhores looking for less drop competition could be solved by mandating personal loot in every raid with trade restrictions.

If your bitch is about item level, that's Blizzard's fault. While the precursor, GearScore, was created during Wrath, that was a mod that you weren't forced to use. Also, since the game started you would have people inspect your gear before getting an invite to a raid. The new ilevel shit just quantifies it.
