>Take a course in uni thats supposed to be hard
>I shit you not, its literally spacechem but with inventory
>Literally same shit with the same tools but different names and easy mode
>Make suggestions that are sometimes explained in the following courses
>No one knows my secret

What the fuck, I would had never thought that an actual videogame would be useful to me in real life.

Has this ever happened to you?

Spacechem was used as a teaching tool in schools for a while says Wikipedia. What class was it?

I guess the translation would be strategic management of operations

I played a ton of Papers Please for weeks. Conscription was around that time, there was a bureaucracy test. Mostly spotting typing errors and eriting stuff down quickly. Did far better than everyone else, hundreds of people, made no mistakes and finished ahead of time.

I mean if anything Runescape taught me how to type as a kid.

Most of them I guess, the ones that have come recommended or got good reviews anyway.

And assuming you're >>386544393 too, Zachtronics make a whole different sort of puzzle game compared to the traditional approach of something like SSR. Both are fine with me, I can understand why someone might like one and not care for the other though.

Infinfactory is the easiest Zachtronics game btw you fucking casual.

Not really. You could be the high IQ type who doesn't enjoy using his intelligence on recreational ( subjectively pointless) activities and instinctually realizes that to him these are a waste of time, and at best, a distraction.

I have experienced the exact same thing with a game from the same developer.

Shenzhen I/O. Is exactly the same as my Electronics Engineering uni course. Except that in Shenzhen I/O you have to do some basic assembly while most Electronics Engineering projects just use a software that does most of the coding for you.

I fucking love his games because they always give you some industry insight ans a bit of a leg-up compared to your peers.
>>
>>386545089
He could be, but considering the context that seems unlikely.
>>
>>386544835
I played both it but im kinda stuck on the last few levels of Shenzhen. i spent most of the time in solitaire too
Got really frustrated after a while because i often times got really nice solutions but the space is just not enough.
I hope zachtronic's next game will be just as good as their previous ones

>>
>>386545272
It has (almost) nothing to do with chemical engineering.
>>
>>386545315
Sign of poor puzzle I reckon, the great ones require a good long think and maybe even sleeping on it.
>>
>>386545315
Psst. Just restart the level when you're about to run out of time. ;)
>>
>>386545089
The type of games I like require fast thinking and reflexes, I like solving complex situations like winning a 1v3 duel in Quake in FFA and other similar stuff mostly in FPS games.

For me puzzle games feel like a chore, and I don't feel any satisfaction from solving the puzzle.
>>
>>386545259
How much more fun is shenzhen? The main reason why I haven't played the main game yet is that I don't really feel like plowing through another manual so quickly.
Still, even if I don't ever get to the main game, I have a solid 10 hours in the solitaire so far. It's pretty addictive.
>>
>>386545485
Well it looks like you just prefer to apply your intelligence differently, then.
>>
>>386545485
youd probably like mobas, specifically assault in Smite because its random gods on both sides so you may get a shit roll and have to work with what you have.
>>
>>386545670
Maybe I haven't found the right puzzle game for me yet though, I would want to at least find one puzzle game I could enjoy.

>>
>>386546081
Infinifactory isn't really hard, until the last level with the shipyard.

What's hard is working on the most efficient solution or building auxilary logical circuits.
>>
>>386546172
That's the appeal of Spacechem though, right? Crafting that perfect solution is way more fun than cobbling together something that will just barely complete the level.

>>
>Devil dice
That game was the shit
I spent dozens of hours on it when I was a kid
>>
>>386546172
I stopped doing that in Infinifactory when I realized I was experiencing diminishing returns with the amount of time I was spending versus how little the improvements were. It's stupid for me to waste more time than needed when I've "optimized" once or twice.
>>
>>386546442
tis-100 is his worst game. Play Shenzhen I/O and you could make genuine microcontroller based electronics.

Play SpaceChem and you could understand the theory behind a lot of chemical reactions.

Play tis-100 and get a basic rudimentary understanding of assembly but not entirely because it's a shitty fake version simply based upon it.

You can see how 1 is different from the others. It's still a fun game though but I feel I didn't really learn anything from it aside from maybe some good logic puzzles that broaden your insight into coding.
>>
>>386546568
Infinifactory is kind of clunky compared to SpaceChem I think, tweaking and optimising is much more of a chore just because of the basic mechanics of placing blocks in the level.
>>
>>386546782
Thats true
>>
Infinifactory is much easier than Spacechem.
If you run out of space in spacechem you're fucked, but in Infinifactory you can just move your product up on the Z axis and keep working on it. Running out of space in Spacechem is almost never an issue.

Shenzhen I/O is artificial difficulty bullshit though. The board sizes are so small it's difficult to implement a solution you know will work at all. Especially in the 2nd campaign. TIS-100 is the better coding game of his IMHO
>>
Why don't you faggots play a real man's puzzle game?

https://youtu.be/0RgiXklIELk?t=1159
>>
>>386546895
Yeah, the levels in Infinifactory are way more forgiving. I would have liked to see more restricted areas in it that you had to work around.

Always wanted to play it but brainlet status scared me from it

It's not heavy math and shit is it?
>>
>>386546687
TIS-100 is my favorite game of his, and I fucking hated Shenzhen I/O. The board sizes are so small in the 2nd campaign that it's just fucking bullshit. Not to mention that TIS-100 had a JRO instruction, which meant all you had to do was tell another chip what line to jump to in the code and it would immediately run it. In Shenzhen you're forced to put test commands in every chip just to accomplish the same thing, which fills up the chips, forcing you to add more chips, and the board is quickly filled up and then you're fucked.
>>
>>386546895
Shenzhen I/O is pretty realistic though. Electronic designs usually have a space requirement or circuit board size limitation where you could put those materials. I think he tried to emulate that with the limited spaces. The difference being of course that you don't have a couple of lines of code in one 4bit microcontroller
>>
>>386546992
Oh, and in Infinifactory you don't have to worry nearly as much about timings.
>>
>>386547093
No. Have you played Factorio?
>>
>>386544869
>>386545089
>>386545485
What a ridiculous exchange. For one, being smart doesn't mean you like puzzles, nor does it even mean you're necessarily good at them. (Though lateral thinking challenges are a big part of IQ testing, so chances are you can do them fine). Plenty of dumb people who practice and try hard do well at puzzles, because they like to do them. Playing Quake is not an expression or exercise of high intelligence, and is by no means whatsoever a more engaging or productive use of one's facilities.

I tested well as a kid but never really took to puzzles until more recently, and that's only because I started to get bored with video games. Just cuz you're smart doesn't mean it's easy or fun to think in an organized, deliberate way, or to try and do something that's hard. You have to make an extra effort to enjoy slower pastimes if you are inured to the input and feedback and pace of video games.

In short, you are a brainlet regardless of your IQ if you can't, won't or hate to challenge your brain; and that's all on you, not your neurology.

Not exactly, but it has that same sort of sandbox element of constructing something you get in Dwarf Fortress, the difference being you've got a specific goal in each level but still a large element of freedom in how you reach it.
>>

any beginner tips?
