The MSQ has its highs and lows, but overall its a really good game. The only part that forces you to be reliant on other people is the dungeons/trials and even those you just queue up for and wait while you do other stuff. Global CD's suck at first then as you get higher level you dont even notice them because the rotations are so smooth. Def worth your time to give a shot

Well, I was posting about it in the dying thread, this amounts to a roughly 5% dps buff for Summoner, and 3, maybe 4% dps buff for Machinist.
Summoner goes up above to a healthy spot above Red Mage (but is still clunky, not fun to play, and ridiculously punishing if you die)
Machinist goes up to Dragoon/Ninja/Red Mage damage, and while it doesn't provide as good offensive utility as Ninja, Dismantle is handy and now easy to throw out more often for more targeted defense, either for tank busters or raid wides.

Machinist is still clearly worse than Bard, but the gap is slowly, slowly closing at least. Maybe 4.1 will bring relief to those playing Summoner, and those that enjoy playing Machinist.

Well the timer is 21 seconds for GB, 2.5 x 3 is like 7.5 seconds, so you possibly do 3 RA combos before refreshing GB, not accounting for Skill Speed changes.
In any case just pay attention to the dot and remember how many RAs can be pulled off before it is going to expire, also spam CoS whenever it's on CD, same with SW. I think it's better to clip GB when it's 1-2 seconds left iirc unless you can see that the remaining 3 seconds do affect the dummy. Just test things out.

It looks like a 3-4% buff on MCH, though the main buff is the satisfaction of Overheat finally being a meaningful mechanic. Dismantle going down in cooldown is also super handy and makes it probably more useful than Troubador, so it can at least kind of compare to the defensive utility Troubador + Minne gives (and the Esuna one is hardly worth mentioning).

The high high end of Bards (DRG + SCH + AST + Good luck) will still be up above Machinist's high end probably though. But for the majority of parties I think this probably brings MCH and BRD to something at least kind of approaching parity, with Battle Voice being the only outlier in utility balance.

Standalone goes on sale more often and for larger discounts, however if you are remotely interested in the game you will most likely buy every expansion at launch anyway to play the content while it's actually relevant so it doesn't really make much of a difference.

If you are just starting out go with the free trial, this lasts up to level 35, meaning you'll get about elbow deep in the most annoying and retarded part of the main story. If you still don't hate the game at that point then by all means buy it but you will have to complete all of the main story from the base game and Hevensward in order before you can play Stormblood content, even with accelerated levelling speed this will be a significant time investment of doing pretty boring fetch quests.

This game is the epitome of "it gets better after 200 hours!", XIV also isn't that great for exploring until the first expansion either because of PS3 limitations meaning every zone is a fairly small map littered with loading screens and invisible walls, if you are expecting a large open area with few transition screens like WOW or uncovering and exploring the map to be rewarded like in GW2 you will be disappointed. Even in the latest expansion which has dropped PS3 support the zone maps are pretty pathetic compared to most other MMOs.

Leveling SAM is the worst part of it, then it's suddenly fun at endgame once dps juice is flowing out of your ass. Just punishing enough to lose 1st place if you fuck up, but not clunky enough to turn you into a literal potato
