Pretty much this. Board games are often the purest, most concentrated form of a game and are timeless across cultures and languages. Video games on the other hand are 99% shite, chock full of politics, agendas, crap writing from Hollywood dropouts, and are generally pushing to appeal to a short lived, temporary fanbase to sell as many copies as possible within the initial sales period before dropping it to churn out another. Video games are just too much of a product.

meanwhile i have to jump through 100 hoops just to play a game from merely 15-20 years ago

I have to have a separate set of external hardware and peripherals to even play smoething like roborumble or mechwarrior 3 that want to use GLIDE (lol direct 3d, lol open gl), or whatever,

i need old hardware that hopefully still wroks to even play NES games as intended, etc.

emulation is good and all but i cant do that with OG xbox, and even saturn has bad netplay so..

anyway
