Maybe that was true for Americas? I own 3 PS2 and 6 Sega Saturns, 1 from Europe and rest from Japan. Never had any fucking problems with it, 2 of those are original Fat models too and still working to this day.

The menu in OP has actually existed since launch. It's called My Games and Apps, basically yes its the exact same thing as the PS4 but Xbox did it first. It's just redesigned with fluent.
