It's been two years but I still can't get over how disappointing MGSV was. Can anybody relate?

No, I'm not nostalgiafaggot subhuman cancer trash ruining video games.
>>
Better than MGS 4. Behead all MGS 4 defenders.

I never played any metal gear game except V. I loved it for what it was. Still one of my favorite experiences in gaming. Had some of the best gameplay of any game i've ever seen.

Eh, no? It did what it was supposed to. It was entertaining. You could do all sorts of shit with the NPCs. A missing story arc has nothing to do with gameplay. It wouldn't have changed gameplay in any significant way. And MGSV did gameplay amazingly well.
You're the problem, not the game.
>>
>>386482316
>Had some of the best gameplay of any game i've ever seen.

I don't get it when people say that. Yes, the way Venom controls and how the weapons feel is god tier, but the game does fuck all with it. Why make a game with such sick mechanics to then just run around a literal desert with copy pasted outposts and do nothing but extract shit?
>>
>>386482930
>It did what it was supposed to
It literally answered nothing, raised more questions and failed to close the story loop.

What type of conclusion did you need? It leads directly into Metal Gear and we know exactly what happens to every major character.

Did you need a mission with sahelanthropus being reclaimed to understand that Liquid didn't have it by MGS?

>You're the problem, not the game.

It's my fault the game has no end? It's my fault that tons of features were cut? It's my fault the trailers showed virtually every scene in the games? It's my fault the game raises far more questions than it answers? It's my fault that the boss fights are laughably bad? It's my fault that the final mission of the series is the copy pasted walking simulator intro? It's my fault that most of the content is filler? It's my fault that the game is piss easy? It's my fault that the "twist" was obvious 5 minutes into the game?
>>
I couldn't even get the energy to start part 2. I was so tired of the game by the time you confront skullface I just started doing base invasions.

Honestly the game plays really good but the story felt so stupid. Like kojima HAD to have venom do everything that snake did but even BIGGER and BETTER.

Snake took out a Hind by himself? well shit venom can take out 10. Snake fought cyber ninjas and won? Shit venom can fight voodoo men with magic warps. What made it worse was when kojima made big boss into a bitch when he made skullface the real reason big boss was able to complete the snake eater mission.
>>
>>386483524
Anon do you know how utterly disturbing that is?
>>
>>386483651
it wasnt supposed to be just OK
>>
>>386483384
>What type of conclusion did you need?
The one where Big Boss actually becomes the broken hero turned villain everybody wanted since MGS3? Instead we got some bullshit segway into how he completely wiped his hands of anything related to the late 20th century before it even happened.
>>
>>386483883
Venom basically came off as Cold Steel Snake to me. It's so fucking corny.
>>

I played FOB's for straight weeks. I was one of the most successful too. brought a riot stun shotgun for hackers who had infinite health. Nothing beat getting fulton'd out, there was no way to avoid it. The missions were approachable in so many ways, you could complete them so quickly with so many different methods, it was fun trying missions in so many different ways. It rewarded creativity.

I should have stopped caring the second I saw this in 4, and by the fact that I knew I wasn't going to play it for lack of good PC and PS4, but I was still let down.

Admittedly, I haven't played it, but I have no desire to. From what I've seen the game plays something like Far Cry, and the companions make things laughably easy while missions take forever because you have to get from point A to B, and back to A and it's just looks so boring.
>>
>>386482094
I wasn't really disappointed but I don't watch trailers or other prerelease shit. I went in with no expectations like I do for every game.
>>
>>386484175
That shit was obvious by the end of peacewalker. It would have been really hamhanded to just have him butchering people for no reason. Besides him abandoning his men like that is incredibly fucked up for a man who styles himself the saviour of soldiers.

MGS3 was all it took for that.
MGSV was pretty pointless overall anyway. I would have been better off not knowing about the Venom bullshit. Not only was I disappointed by the game and it's utter lack of MGS appeal, I was also disappointed by Big Boss, at least the latter was intentional but it didn't make it feel better.

>>386482094
Has it really been 2 years? Jesus FUCK.

I remember playing that game to completion and being let down by everything that was promised. Years before I played fucking MGS:Peace Walker and it was phenomenal, base building, calling in supply drops, having gun setups and multiple camos/battledress. The funnest was taking on bosses, KO'ing their crew, the boss getting mad and popping out of his helicopter/tank only for you to tranq him too and get a boss recruit AND an armored vehicle.

I thought wow if this was on a console or PC I would never stop playing. Instead we got the open world meme. Even worse... the multiplayer MGO was delayed 6 months for PC and it was still a horrible laggy mess.
>>
>>386488007
I think PW is the worst in the main series personally.
>>
>>386488274
Thats what a lot say. IDC, I couldnt stand playing Metal Gear Acid and Portable Ops. PW was especially great for anyone who had a handheld. On console it mustve stunk.

>>386488462
for what it's worth I played it on console HD edition and loved it, probably my favourite of the series up there with 3. It's different from the rest for sure but I loved it, 100%ed it
>>
>>386488619
It doesn't help that they changed Big Boss' VA. He barely spoke during any of the cutscenes.

They were cheerful in PW because they were building a nation all by themselves, getting power and influence all over the world. They had nothing to be mad at, they were able to fuck up all those proto metal gears and even the giant one that had the AI of the boss in it, and even stopped it from launching a nuke.

Honestly I loved the mission setups for everything in PW, you can redo a level, redo an INDOOR level, or just go straight for fighting a boss and try to go for gold in time or capture the boss.

V was just super edgy with all the money spent on scanning Joost's body, face and feet.

Sergio's surgery is in December, you tell me.
>Since Kojima Productions couldn’t find a satisfactory analytic solution for the height fog model, they developed it independently. In Kojima Production’s approach information about the sun like and the sky light us supplied to the height fog model from the precomputed atmospheric scattering model.

>In sunlight conditions, the light is incident to the ground, and interacts with the atmosphere. The precomputed model generates the scattering information and stores it in the LUT. The height fog model then receives info in background radiation, sunlight and skylight from the precomputed model.

>While the precomputed atmospheric scattering model used is nothing special, the LUT used is different from the typical model. The implementation used by Kojima Productions mainly uses Bruneton’s and Elek’s model with some optimizations.

>Normally a precomputed atmospheric scattering model has in-scatter and transmittance LUTs, but Kojima Productions replaced the transmittance LUT with sunlight and skylight LUTs, because they want to feed the information for sunlight and skylight directly into the analytic height fog model.

>Two weather types were precomputed, sunny and dense fog. They can be used as a base to express various weather conditions with no further precomputation required. Below you can check out a sample of the model.
What famous videogame series is known for it's foggy environments?

You must have had to be a super fan. It's one of the most feature-laden games in recent memory.

I won't claim to be a huge MGS fan or that it stays fresh forever, but I still get amazing fun just reloading missions and fucking around with the custom soundtrack and (albeit scarcely populated) multiplayer.

I suppose its different if you were playing for the actual plot and anticipating that Kojima wasn't a college dropout hack or whatever.
