Future Tone would have been the goat project diva if it had F2nds gameplay, Xs character models and arcades stages.

As it stands, its gameplay is the worst in the series and playing psp songs that were in f2nd without the added chance times sucks.

I think you misunderstood what my problem was.
Its more of a presentation thing.

Having the black borders pop up during a song was just aesthetically pleasing.
And what I meant with the psp songs was that the ones in f2nd had additions to their pvs for clearing chance time that i liked and it feels empty now that i got used to them going back to the old pvs.

The Chance times missing is an issue with presentation.

I don't like the game play and its removal of the string style hold notes in favor of the double note spam and dpad and face buttons being mirrored.

most of them aren't really bothering me, the main part of the song is so slow you could play it with one hand if you really needed to

what trips me up are the parts when len sings and you have to do this janky mid-tempo spam that's too fast for one hand but too slow for two

I don't like double notes much, but I didn't like arrow notes in F/F2nd either, so there's not much to complain about.

I feel like the double notes add quite a bit of depth to what you can do gameplay-wise.
There are extremely few charts in F/F2 where you actually have to stop and look at it and think "okay, how do I do this?"
There's lots of those in FT even if your approach is just "what do I need to set my macros to".

It might just be stubbornness since I've been used to arrow notes up till future tone came out and I haven't played much of future tone since I was put off by the change. I've been trying to get over it and actually play the game now though. Mostly because theirs no new game coming this year and might not come anytime soon and X was a big let down.
