Honestly? I'm not too bumbed. It's pretty clear that the developers are completely out of ideas, so it's probably for the best.

I do feel that the JRPG-in-space thing is a concept that we can still milk a little, but it's 100% clear to even a hardcore fan that Star Ocean is not that cow.

I LOVED 5's lewd screenshot ability! That game alone completely changed my view of PS4's social media share button.

If anything, 5 is an improvement over 4. Sure you can't explore space, but at least you aren't fighting damage sponge bosses, while horribly undergeared.

Tri-Ace was bought halfway through production of Star Ocean 5. The entire company.

Star Ocean was always a mediocre series. Even 2, the best in the series, had a pretty lame plot and the spammiest combat in the series.

Tales of Berseria perfected Star Ocean style gameplay. It has more depth and freedom than SO5 before you even unlock spell charging, arte chaining, and shortcuts.
