>le "crash 2 is the best in the series" meme

Now this is some BULLSHIT, sure crash controls better than one, but some of the levels are gimmicky, and not to mention the BULLSHIT secret zones, how the FUCK was anyone supposed to know?

Even crash 1 with it's "no death, you get gem" rule was more fun that this piece of shit

1 > 3 > 2
>>
All the secret zones are obvious

Prove me wrong
>>
crash 2 is the best
>>
Contrary to the increasingly popular meme, not all opinions are "memes".

CB2 was a huge improvement gameplay, animation and style-wise. The babby Polar bear alone makes the game GOTY.

2 > 3 > > > 1.
>>
>>386456804

yeah it's only really the blue gem that was the least obvious
>>
>>386456804
>fake nitro stairs
>jump on this inconspicuous platform

how the FUCK was anyone supposed to know? It's nintendo-tier cryptic "buy our fucking guides goy" bullshit
>>
>>386457005
underage
>>
Why would 2 be lower than 3 if gimmicks were a problem? 3 had way more shitty gimmick levels.
>>
>>386456689
>was anyone supposed to know?

By buying the strategy guide, how the fuck do you think they sold those things back in the day when decent internet was scarce?
>>
>>386457005
The fake nitros don't jump around like the normal ones, and the loading screen hint tells you to look for a "well-hidden secret"
>>
I fucking hate all of the vehicle levels, should I even bother playing 3?
>>
>>386457702

>90% of the stages are pure platforming with few exceptions
>One of them being the polar bear stages which is the exact same shit as Hog Wild In Crash 1 and the China levels in 3
>The jetpack levels where only two show up and at the very end of the game
>Secret zones are actually challenging and feel rewarding to play through

You're a fucking baby OP.
>>
>>386457829
they're on the screen for like a minute so you might as well take the time to glance at it, you inept cunt
>>
>>386457005
Nitro is perfectly still and not making a noise, they stand out like a sore thumb

The platform isn't inconspicuous at all. It's the only one of its kind, absolutely nothing on it allegedly but you can see you can make it there by jumping the boxes. When you see you're missing a gem on the levels entrance it's the only logical place to go
>>
>>386456804
This.
Maybe not "obvious," but they are all pretty much subtly telegraphed. Crash 3 is the game with all the BS secrets.
>>
>>386457880
I think he's referring to the fact it wasn't in the original
>>
>>386456689
>how the FUCK was anyone supposed to know?

Strategy guides and videogame magazines would sell for a reason.
People like to remember the old secrets and cheat codes as magical times, but they were the closest equivalent of DLC since they couldn't implement that.
>>
>>386456689
3 is by far the best one in the series
>>
All of the games are heavily flawed and has several instances of poor game design.

Honestly ND weren't that good at these types of games, even the Jak series was underwhelming as a whole.

Byth Spyro and Sly were far better series.

>>386457702
You have to remember that these games were designed without the hints.
>>
>>386456689
3 is objectively the best, even if it has 3 or 4 bullshit motorboat/airplane levels.
>>
>>386457880
He's referring to the original, you mong.
>>
>>386456689
I agree with Crash 2 not being better than 1, however you're so wrong about the secret zones. Only one is kinda bullshit because you have to kill a plant and stand on its platform but that's it.

Crash 1 seems to have variety in level design and to be able to pack as much as it can in one level due to limitations. In Crash 2 there just seems like a lot of empty space and reuse designs like "fight these moles in a pit" and "run past these falling pillars" Not a bad game at all, just hope 3 is better
>>
>>386457005
Because those nitros were not moving at all. That's fucking suspicious.
>>
>>386457993
The only way you were finding that bullshit entrance to that one jetski level was either through dumb luck, a strategy guide or the one kid in school who had one
>>
>>386457005
>It's nintendo-tier cryptic "buy our fucking guides goy" bullshit
As false as humanly possible. Having a pile of nitros shaped as a staircase is already suspicious but they don't even act like normal nitros, and the "inconspicuous platform" you mentioned is in plain sight and can easily be jumped to. How is this anywhere near as bad as something like the first Zelda game where the secret caves have literally zero giveaways? If you don't have a guide for that game, you essentially just have to walk along the walls inch by inch, dropping bombs randomly and hoping that you accidentally open a cave. That's bullshit, I agree, and the Crash 2 secrets are pretty damn easy to find compared to that.
>>
>>386458120
>3 or 4 bullshit motorboat/airplane levels
You're forgetting the motorbike and jet ski levels. And the underwater levels aren't the greatest either. And at least three of the five secret levels are these gimmick levels too.
>>
>>386458120
>3 is objectively the best
"No"
The problem with the third game is that there are too fucking many gimmick levels. You have the underwater levels, motorbike levels, jet ski levels and plane levels that are all shit, and along with the Pura levels they literally take up like half the game. Crash 2 on the other hand is mostly pure platforming as is also more challenging. I honestly cannot understand why anyone would prefer Crash 3 unless the person is a massive nostalgiafag.

The first thing I did when I saw the alien sign was hit it because I'd never seen it before. Eggipus Rex was bullshit though and I found that by pure chance.

>>
>>386456689
doesn't even matter. CTR and the Party games one are the real gems of the Crash Series
>>
>>386459834
The problem is that none of these non-platforming levels are as fun as the platforming levels and a lot of them are just straight up either boring or annoying to play due to shitty controls.
>>
>>386459834
>>complains about variety in a game
Variety is good only if it's executed well. Making 50% of the game annoying gimmick levels is not good variety, it just makes the game a fucking chore to play. If the core gameplay is good, you don't need to shoehorn variety in there simply for the sake of variety (for a good example, see DMC3). When developers start adding all kinds of dumb shit in the game that nobody asked for, it's usually a dead giveaway that they're out of fresh ideas, and this is exactly what happened with Crash 3 along with many other platforming games that are third in their respective series like Spyro 3 and Sly 3. The rest of your post is essentially bait-tier and I'm not going to address it.

out of 5 levels in the first warp room, only TWO are platforming levels
the egyptian and arabian levels are reused far more than any theme in crash 2
there are like, 5 motorbike stages
the powers feel like shit to use, the double jump barely works and only activates when you're in the middle of raising up from another jump, you can't space it out
the fruit bazooka is slow and clunky and the aiming isn't in 3d, it's just a cursor over the screen

the airplane levels suck

I can agree on mario and maybe some sonic games, but how the flying fuck is it behind spyro? what sort of "quality" are you talking about? spyro games are barely platformers. You mostly collect gems and flame or charge piss easy enemies. At least in crash games the obstacles or jumps require some timing and presition, in spyro games there isn't a single difficult jump or obstacle in the entire trilogy that requires any degree of skill. Even tree tops baby easy once you know what to do.

Fucking morons.
When you beat the first level after getting the box gem, the box counter at the end of the level reads X / 0, a very clear hint at what you need to do to get the blue gem.

The nitro staircase to the purple gem was obvious as fuck. Oh look, a totally not suspicious at all staircase of nitros? Why the fuck would they place that there? Not to mention they don't bubble and bounce like every other nitro in the game. They're perfectly still.

The platform in the river level where you have to bounce across the boxes was obvious too. Most of these secrets to invoke basic critical thinking skills. Ominous platform that you clearly could reach if you bounced across those suspiciously placed boxes.

Those suspiciously placed ice platforms on the polar bear level that allow you to reach that suspiciously placed platform.

I figured out all the secrets as a kid without a guide because I had critical thinking skills, not surprised /v/ is mostly populated by low IQ plebeians. The only secret I'll give you is the one where you have to fall down the hole in Unbearable. To my knowledge there aren't any hints for that one. Yet I somehow discovered it as a kid.

My hope for the new games is that the original fans are happy and that a new generation of ‘Crash Kids’ will have just as much fun." .... that being said, I do have opinions about the *remade* Crash music (please stop referring to it as "remastered") Of course I have opinions (like everyone else) regarding music that's based on what I originally created and put a lot of thought and care into. There are many, many fan-made remakes and remixes that I REALLY like and have been vocal about. However, I'm reluctant to discuss the N. Sane remakes as many people are quick to unfairly box me in as being "negative". So again, I really want the new games to be great - especially for the new gamers who have never played the originals. Thanks for reading and thanks for the ongoing appreciation for the original CB soundtracks ))))

You're blind with nostalgia if you unironically think crash 3 is better than anything. Less than half of the game was platforming levels, and the few of them it had sucked. Overall the easiest crash game. I wouldn't be surprised if you could beat some of these "platforming" levels without jumping.

Crash 1 requires a leap of faith at one point to 100% it, nothing in Crash 2's secrets compare to that. Nice bait thread OP.

I seem to recall alot of talk about rushed deadlines and basically the programmers being left for dead and having to work with low manpower and low resources, resulting in a poorer product but more importantly a poorer reputation. Its not quite cut and dry as 'shit game bye bye baby'

Probably not, but I hold a grudge against that entire team, because they scrapped their original idea, Crash Bandicoot Evolution, for something much, much worse, and that might even be part of the reason why they ran out of time and resources.

I don't like seeing honest hard working developers going out of business, but I'm relieved they didn't get to continue ruining Crash Bandicoot any further. Crash Twinsanity did enormous damage by itself.

The secret zones were awesome though. They were a reward for thinking outside the box and exploring, something Crash 3 didn't even bother with.

>wait, could I possibly go back to the bear?
>awesome, I can!

I can only recommend playing it again, once you get over the hump that it isnt a proper crash game it honestly isnt all that bad

plus goat soundtrack
