>spend half an hour retrying and perfecting your result at a challenge mission
>send it to a random player who must beat your result on the first try
Why is this allowed?
Unless they're willing to restart the game over and over before they their loss gets transmitted to the servers.

Also, does anyone know if challenging other players directly through the ranking list yields them any dusty tokens? Or can you do that safely to observe their ghosts to learn how they get such outlandish times?

I played the first game again.

I think in general, the first game had way better pacing and had a better intro.

Also, the combat in 1 had a really huge ammount of depth that never got put to good use and it makes me sad that most of it did not get carried over into GR2.
>>
>outlandish times

man, this gives me autism every time.
i got challenged by some nip cunt. it was the newspaper run in the city-like district of the marketplace. his ghost just flies off in the opposite direction you have to go, somewhere off in the sky, and his timer stops at something like 10 seconds like he's done the course.
not to mention that faggot mute1020123914 or whatever the numbers are, who has the top score on most challenges, and they are just the most RIDICULOUS times.
i'm convinced they hack/exploit/ are or know devs because that shit is gay.
fair enough if someone gets good talismans, and comes back using a different style which might be quicker, but these things give me the shits hardcore. fucking nips

I don't think the first game had any more in-depth combat than the second one. The second one adds more depth with the new styles. And you can't just typhoon your way to victory like you could in the first game, because you need max level upgrade to enable invulnerability, and the super moves don't charge over time.

What I didn't like about the second game is that with the world becoming more detailed, you got stuck on geometry more often.

I'm convinced the all time top are full of cheaters, yeah. But maybe in this case a vantage point allows you to hit all the targets by spamming the gravity throw from the same position?

hmm possibly, with some range extender talismans. doubt it, but def an overlooked possibility.

on my first playthrough of gr2, never played the first.

Japan seriously needs to stop "developing" female characters by having them cut their beautiful hair.

The first game had some animation cancels you could do. Really cool. I think its in GR2. But you can jump, do an air kick, and right as it hits, you can jump again and bring out another kick. You could do this as long as you landed hits. It was really cool.

Also, you could do some really cool positioning by switching on and off gravity just as you jump. It would often make you do a flip and make you jump about 3x your normal jump height.

If you land that jump, Kat will hit the ground hard. When this happens, you can instantly do a finisher attack.

If you do finisher attacks, you can easilly chain a gravity kick into it and hit them almost instantaniously because of how close you are to them.

So you could do the gravity switch jump, land a couple animation cancel kicks, make a heavy land and lead into a finisher, then gravity kick. It was amazingly satisfying.

It is hard to explain, but you should try them out when you can.

Another cool thing, just as you gravity slide, jump as quick as you can.

It should make you do a back flip straight into the air. This is a good way to dodge attacks, but it also changes you into a gravity state. From here you can pull a gravity kick out, or wait until you make a heavy impact and lead into a finisher.

Also, you no doubt already know this, but if you dodge then attack, that attack becomes a finisher.

A lot of these things did not carry over into GR2. It is a shame, but lunar mode more than makes up for it.

Same poster, I also believe the ability that lets you pick up shit and throw it was buffed way to hard in 2. It is so broken.

But it was absolutely useless in 1 unless you wanted to stun lock an enemy (which is useless)
>>
>>386431668
Nice of you finding all those glitches, but it doesn't add any actual depth to the combat.
>>386431774
> the ability that lets you pick up shit and throw it was buffed way to hard in 2. It is so broken.
Yeah, sort of. Just as it was completely useless in the first game.
Although I personally still mostly stick to just gravity kick spam, like before. Old habits die hard.
I really took a liking to jupiter style ground combat though. That block is too good. I think it even staggers the green rare nevi, when they don't stagger normally from your attacks.
>>
>>386431925
No, these are not glitches. They were designed into the game, I can almost guarentee it

Someone has to program you being able to chain into a finisher from landing from a higher height. That isnt something that just happens because of a glitch. Same with the air kicking.

This stuff was deliberate, and if you tested it out in the game you would see it that way too.

It is all way too smooth and seemless to be just a glitch.
>>
>>386432183
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a finisher. I never really used the ground combat in the first game that much.
But
>Also, you no doubt already know this, but if you dodge then attack, that attack becomes a finisher.
sounds like just a regular dodge follow-up. Which is definitely in the second game too.

The only thing the first game did much better mechanically imo is the gravity slide. In the sequel you can't slide in peace for a few meters without risking getting glued to a wall and fucking up your direction.
>>
>>386432183
Same poster, ah shit explanation, Ik.

Im tired and gotta get some sleep. If the thread isnt dead by tomorrow, I will get my game out and can explain some more stuff to further show how none of this stuff is accidental glitching.

If not, might do it in another GR thread.

But trust me, those mechanics had to have been planned. Kat's kit of moves just synergize exceptionally well with the mechanics and physics the devs made.
>>
>>386432317
I just call them finishers because they have the same attack power as the finishing combo in kat's kicking.

But yeah, the dodge follow up is in both games.

However, there are far more ways to bring up a follow up in 1 than there are in 2.

Its really hard to explain because it is somewhat complex, but just give it a try. If you can decipher my 4 am dribble that is.

From what I'm understanding you're saying you could do a dodge follow-up attack after falling from high heights in 1.
In 2 you get staggered for a second if that happens. Unless you hit the dodge button right before the landing, which negates the stagger and lets you do a follow-up properly.
>>386432381
>If the thread isnt dead by tomorrow
Good luck with that.
