Unsubbing after the MSQ is a good idea. The endgame raids can be fun, but the grind is not worth for the content they provide. Each patch is new tomestone gear grinding with a couple linear dungeons and maybe an aesthetically pleasing boss arena.
I was hoping they'd switch it up for the newest expac, but Yoshi-p is deadset on copying WoW, and somehow getting their catch-up mechanics wrong.

I actually like the changes they've made to SMN and the apparent new identity they gave to the job as a build-up DPS that slowly set up it's damage until it reaches it's apogee with Bahamut, as opposed to the solid sustained damage of BLM and the upfront burst of RDM.

The problem is that I don't think you're rewarded enough for all the build-up SMN has to do. Bahamut is strong but it doesn't make up for the x2 rotations of Aetherflow + DWT + saving up CDs to line it up with Bahamut. They should have either allowed a way of extending Bahamut's lifespawn via flawless rotation for a limited amount of time ala BotD or just speed up the rotation required to summon it by giving SMN the SCH's aetherflow trait.

This would at least encourage a niche for SMNs in low downtime fights like V1S.

Don't really care too much about hardcore raiding. I mainly like exploring the world and hanging out in comfy places like Ishgard.

Nah, just got it few days ago and leveled two jobs 60-70, and another 30-50. PvP on 50-60 is pretty inefficient compared to PotD, but probably doing HW fates could work if they aren't too hard to solo. Still, you're putting in zero effort, which is better than grinding PotD for 10 hours.
I let it run in a small window while I do other things, but I do leave it on while I go out too. Haven't run it overnight though.
Never heard of anyone banned and I see a lot of people botting, it becomes really obvious once you use the bot yourself. They could do a ban wave, but I doubt it'd be financially viable for them.
Only problem I've had with it is one time it started queueing for Feast, and I had to restart the game.
