the problem wasn't that the port was bad. the problem was that they ported the ps3 version instead of the ps4 version. probably because dw8 came out before the ps4 did, but even when the pc port of xl came out it was still the ps3 version. since then they've either just ported the ps4 version or made the pc version the main one and ported it down to ps4.

If that's caught your interest then I suggest you try DW7 out first - it's got the best story presentation in the series. DW8 has some really cool hypothetical scenarios as well.

It's going to be set in stages, each representing an era, i.e Yellow Turbans, Dong Zhou etc. There's going to be smaller battles that all lead up to the final grand battle that actually advances the game into the next era. Sounds like it's going to be pretty much the same format except you have to travel across a map rather than just selecting the stage in story mode.

Musou games have really had good animations. The movesets aren't really tiny. If you can see through the 240p, it looks like there are different movesets based on the four buttons, not just triangle and square.

This is like the polar opposite of what I was worried would happen, what is going on with Koei? I don't know what to think about how they're doing the combat system either from what little I've seen of it, but it all looks different and I don't know how it works outside of that paragraph about the State Combo, which I was hoping was more an extra move rather than the only way to attack. The designs are all great at least. I feel like they toned the "dumbfuckness" of Xu Zhu down very slightly in a way that seems to make a big difference. He looks a bit less retarded and more just chill and carefree, which is a good change.

Recent musou games have been getting pretty hard when playing on the higher difficulties. Chaos in Orochi 3 has you dying in like 4 hits, Samurai 4 and all the iterations added some more difficulty with the enemy zones plus difficulty
