Sith Warriors can be honorabu samurai warriwah and Imp Agents can just be loyal nationalists that want to do whatever is the best for the empire.

The Empire itself is edgy because it's a shitty aristocracy where the elites have near infinite power and spend all their time and resources trying to steal even more power from others.

I'm so disappointed in TOR because there's hints of a genuinely good game hidden around the edges. EC NiM is one of /the best/ raids I've ever played in any MMO. But fur everything fun and fantastic there are ten more baffling or awful design choices. I can imagine an unorganized design document, covered in coffee stains, and made by people who know nothing about MMOs. Cash shop and RNG are the nail in the coffin for the game though. Not that it won't make money, but the game is stagnant and crippled like the rest of its genre.

Also there's tons and tons of supplemental reading behind TOR about Theron, Satele, Malcolm and all the major players in the galaxy neatly woven into a backstory full of very Star Wars appropriate melodrama. None of it makes any appearance in the game instead we got the KOTET clusterfuck Bioware YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE shoehorn about characters we know nothing about.
