The crux of Bloodborne is that it's all about the Healing Church trying to hide all the amoral shit they've been doing the past several decades. I had just beaten a boss fight and then was heading ahead to see if there was a lamp and she rang her bell and some Hunter came and we had a long fight but I eventually died because I ran out of blood vials. I'm playing through the game for the first time and I love it, way better than that turd which was DaS3, but my only complaint is that it's kind of easy. I just beat Ludwig on my third try, and I've been told that he's one of the hardest bosses in the game. I'm using a +9 Whirligig Saw so maybe I need to go to NG+ cycles before it starts getting hard. Armor in BB is style and sidegrades, it has no weight and will likely never matter unless saving you from a potential one-shot counter attack once in a lifetime

By sidegrades I mean they have different resistances/armor to different elements. Hunter's set is overall just good, there are other sets which have higher physical, arcane or bloodtinge for specific occasions/bosses, but they are in no way mandatory

However, BB does punish passivity and slow play. You need to be aggressive and constantly making moves, which keeps the combat more engaging imo.

Because it stays consistent. Which is a good and bad thing in this case. There are so many god damned city scapes in this game that all look the same. I wanted more shit like the Nightmare Frontier.

Also the dreary tone of the game makes Dark Souls look like Mario Bros. In Dark Souls even though the world is ending there's a sense of somber beauty in it. It's like someone dying, it's sad but this is the way it's supposed to be and maybe that's not so bad. Bloodborne on the other hand is cynical as shit. FUCK YEAH BLOOD! FUCK YEAH ELDRITCH MADNESS! I struggled heavily starting with DeS, but got the hang of things much better in DaS. I think the start of DaS is a great way to learn these games + you can use a shield then ween yourself off that pussy shit. I don't really like making fun of "shield shitters", some people might just prefer them but I ditched it and it's a lot more fun, and you don't get one in BB.

I'd rate BB=DS3 other than how I liked DS3's gameplay ideas more.
Either way Souls games playing into their RPG and adventure game strengths was better than them playing into action game focus which is one of the biggest reasons I think the series got tiresome to play with sequels.
Taking more notes from Ninja Gaiden than Elder Scrolls ideas was a worse decision than it looks like on paper.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I hate it but I think it is my least favorite in the series. While it's true that the pace is faster it just felt like the enemies were doing more flailing style attacks. The enemy attacks never felt as deliberate as they were in the previous games. On top of that making most enemies susceptible to parries makes the game much easier than it needs to be, particularly since parries can be done at a range now.

With that said I prefer King's Field over the Souls games so I suppose I just like slower games, I dunno.
