From the composition point of view?
Hardly, he's not really that good at writing music, most of the times he basically takes a piece of exisiting music and rewrites some parts with others, making essentially pastiches, in fact most of his rock FF tracks are pastiches of various tracks from The Queen, Hendrix, Deep Purple etc, one of the most evident is FFIX's Dark Messenger.
He's not a bad composer and he's also definitely a good musician if you've ever seen him on his concerts, but he's wildly overrated, just like FF.
People like Kenji Ito, Yuzo Koshiro, Masashi Hamauzu or the Falcom JDK team are all vastly better than Uematsu, Ito himself demolishes Uematsu on stage too, but all of these people actually studied music and composition, Uematsu was just an amateur who did it as a hobby and for what he is he's not bad at all.

Why would they?
Sakaguchi is working at his own pace and it's clear he just wants to cash on mobiletrash, he's already said that console games are too stressful to make and is content with what he's doing, Uematsu would get less work by going back to Square too, 90% of the artists/musicians in the industry are freelancers for a reason, you can work a lot more and earn a lot more by working for different companies instead of being tied to one.

Besides, Squenix is a joke nowadays, there's hardly anyone of the old veterans from Square nowadays, outside of Kawazu I guess, which would never leave because Squenix would never sell him the rights to his own series, otherwise he would have left a long time ago, all the other big devs like Tanaka or Ishii already left, the other talented people like Hamauzu, Amano and whoever else from the old days are freelancers.

Also, I think Uematsu has a bone to pick with Squenix right now since they cockblocked him from using the names and titles of his FF tracks in his concerts and album, apparently he didn't take it so good.

There's literally nothing wrong with that, DQ does that and it has kept a level of quality FF dreams of, same with other series.
What "killed" FF was trying to pander to everyone according to what was cool at the moment, the reason why people are crying over it is simply because the series changed to pander to someone other than the older part of the fanbase, in terms of actual quality the games have always been mediocre in what they tried to do compared to other games of the time, the story and production values themselves hardly changed over the years.

Xbone feels like the most pointless console so far because it's just a lower performing PC in terms of game library, even MS is putting their games on Windows. PS4 is not that much better mind you, a lot of games are coming to PC these days so consoles are starting to feel pointless.

Except nearly all multiplats ran worse on the PS3. If you're actually going to play multiplats on a console in the 7th gen a PS3 is the worst decision you can ever make, even if it has some more Japanese games. Xbone is awful though, everything runs far worse on it.

This is a gem on the 360. It's a classic JRPG and I like to think of it as the last true Final Fantasy game. The 1000 Years of Dreams stories are the best thing about this game, those stories were great and I always looked foward to reading them.

I do remember that I never really used the kids and suddenly they get separated from the team. Then I was getting my ass kivled and had trouble cause they were so under leveled.

It's an amazing game and a breath of fresh air, but it has its issues.

- it has ridiculous difficulty spikes in a couple places
- the first boss is 100% luck based, if it decides it's going to do its aoe twice in a row, you just fucking die, there's nothing you can do about it at that stage in the game
- grinding rings later on gets boring as shit
- the characters are insanely fucking ugly, it's to the point where I think it was an intentional design choice
- gameplay wise the mortals are all completely worthless once you get immortals to use in your party instead, except for the little male kid
