What are some of the best tower defense games? Which have done

Dungeon Defenders and Orcs Must Die were pretty fun. Setting up towers/traps and fighting along side them. Otherwise I honestly haven't played that many past Warcraft 3 custom games.

Orcs Must Die was probably the best that I've played, too, for the sheer fact that you can actually interact with the game other than set it and let it run. It allowed for on the fly strats and quicker action

Defense Grid was pretty fun and I enjoyed Sanctum in co-op

Why is this genre so unpopular? The only popular tower defence game I can think of is Plants vs Zombies and maybe Bloons Tower Defence.

I think you used to be able to buy Shadow Cores and you had to buy the full version. The Steam Version is better and doesn't include any microtransactions.

this will forever remain the absolutely best TD game
it's a fucking crying shame it's on a shit flash engine so it lags to utter fuck once you get into the higher rounds, all of the mechanics like wave enraging, mana farms, traps, amplifiers, the difficulty settings, the gem combining, all the good hotkeys and good UI decisions that make everything simple, it's all so fun until you enrage a wave too hard and your game drops 2fps and you gotta wait 2 hours for it to speed up again

Shilling for this since I liked it during warcraft 3 era.

I haven't played any tower defense games that were nearly as good as the old Warcraft 3 custom maps. Pic related, it's the genre as a whole.
