Play Monster Hunter with a guide for Low Rank until you find a goal for yourself. Great Swords, Switch Axes, Insect Glaives, Hammers, and Charge Blades are all super fun. All of them but the Glaive have a huge finisher that's fun as hell to land.

The Dragon Quest games are very fun too. Any of them would work.

You could get Cave Story if it's your kinda thing.
Smash bros is also great if you have friends.
Pop Island is a fun little game that has download play.
The N64 remasters are great too.
A Link Between Worlds is great.
The Kirby games all look good.
Blaster Master 0 is good
Samus Returns will probably be good.
Look at the Virtual Console to see if there's anything that suits your taste. Lots of good Sega games there.
Shovel Knight and Terraria are on the eShop too. Pirate's Curse is good. Steamworld games are good.
Megaman Legends 3 is a must have.
Depends on what you're feeling like playing.

If you have it hacked, it's one of the best ways to play GBA games on the go. Alien on the Run and Liberation Maiden are great budget games.
