That's how to play correctly, but it's not optimal.
In savage mode raids you're expected to be out of tank stance about 90% of the time if not more. You have to learn how to grab and maintain aggro through a fight while being in tank stance as little as possible to optimize damage.
It's not a big deal if you aren't planning on doing anything on the bleeding edge of content, but at that point it's definitely expected.

If you're leveling gathering, sell low level mats in large numbers, it won't make a lot of money, but it's practically guaranteed pocket change. I can make about 20-30k for a full stack of Alumen on my server. As for crafting, it's not really a money maker till max level, unless you sell to people directly and not on MB. I've actually been doing that a bit since I rolled a WAR and aside from aggro and making the healer's mana go a a bit farther there isn't much of a point to tank stance. Maybe the scaling changes it but there doesn't seem much to it at this level.

In HW the WOL had to earn that praise somewhat, with the only person consistently praising them being Haurchefant. Healing is boring has hell now since SB. It used to have some complexities due to the cross class system and everyone having more buttons to press pre-SB. WHM is even easier to play now than it was in HW, SCH is now clunkier than ever and has weakest healing and worst MP management. AST is the only healer that still plays similar to HW, but it's even stronger now.

Tanks still have stance-dancing available to them and are generally less of a hassle to play in DF, PvP, and Trials. I would say they are the more fun class to play and will probably remain that way for a while.

If you got Stormblood you already have Heavensward, they are included together. If you stopped at Ultima Weapon however you are still pretty far into the beginning, the game doesn't really start getting enjoyable until you reach level 50. The questline after Ultima Weapon is a bit of a slog though, lots of back and forth and errand missions, but as it reaches the end of ARR shit ramps up. And Heavensward introduces tons of great content.

1. No one follows the 'normal' rules of a dungeon, so
2. it involves less dealing with multiple mob groups and aggro, which is basically most of your job, and

I didn't do Monk but that's a classic feature of the ideal king/ruler. There's some medieval Persian epic, not Shahnameh but it was referenced in the author's intro to Shahnameh just too lazy to get the book. A King dismisses his vizier, who becomes an ascetic monk at some temple. The kingdom goes to shit, the king goes to the vizier and begs him to come back because he's the only man smart enough to rule. The Vizier tells him it's exactly that intelligence that tells him not to go and rule. The idea being rule is miserable and depressing and it's a classic theme. Really strong with Conan of Cimmeria, I think Robert Baratheon shows it and it's referred to in Shahnameh too.

If SE is smart they could pull that off - have the whole democracy/monarchy conflict (and forgiveness vs retribution for collaborators like angry scotsgirl) define Ala Mhigo during the patches. Widargelt could work as a good compromise because while he's of royal blood he also is a fervent Temple of the Fist Rhalgrite, who if I recall right the mad king smashed into bits.

Kinda want to say not necessarily, and we've already had this up until SB with cross-class skills. Probably still sort of true, at the very least there'll be meta builds where certain classes will be most optimal with certain sub-classes. I'm kinda thankful that the game's current idea of meta is so insignificant that it can be safely discarded for practically all content.

Still, part of me would like to run a BLM/WHM just because I want to be a sage. Then again, considering how tight rotations are and how clear each class' role within a party is, there's very little I could utilize from the WHM package as a DPS, and I believe this would still be true for most other class combinations. For this to work the entire game would have to be designed completely different.

I had a sudden recollection of WOW's talents/build system. I was thinking of the old fashioned threefold division from Vanilla and BC. That'd never happen but for a moment I liked to imagine such a system (or just a twofold one) in XIV just because I would love to be a healer Paladin or I am sure there's a million guys who'd love to be a DPS WAR or DRK.

It can be depending on your classes secondary stat weight. I'm pretty sure that the hq items have close if not the same main stat weights as the 330 gear so if you could get the crafted item and pentameld it then you can save your times for more important pieces that might be BiS and more expensive instead of just buying an acc each week. If you are trying to clear content at a quicker pace with your static I would recommend it, or if you can get the crafted stuff for cheap from a friend I would say do it. You need to understand your class before sinking the money though.

Do you parse yourself? If so go practice on the dummy and see what you're hitting. I would recommend the crafted pants unless your group has V3 on farm, or even still just to get you a nice upgrade. I used the 100% chance melds for Det 6 then put in det5's. Still though, with the 330 wep, you should be pulling 3.7k+ easily.

Hmmm. Honestly if you can't parse yourself and want to get better, put up a pf group for a ninja to help you and see if he will. I know that's kind of frustrating but there's nothing wrong with wanting to be better at the game. All you can do is practice your rotation perfectly on a dummy and then try to transistion that to each fight. If you know you hit x dps on the dummy but are hitting much lower on the fight, then its uptime on the boss and overall comfort with the fight.

NIN is all about cooldown management since you have more you need to line up than most other classes. Trick, Dream Within a Dream, and Kassatsu all sync up evenly. CD's should generally be used as soon as possible unless you know an invuln phase is coming up, you're in a speedkill group that wants to optimize perfectly, or you know you won't get another set off before the fight ends.

Also, which fight were you supposedly getting 3100 on? Certain fights are subject to more unavoidable breakdowns.

I'm pretty sure you can still be parsed at the sea,sky dummies even if they arnt in your party so either one works. Im not sure what the downside to using anything other than the lvl 60 dummies might be so I would stick to those unless in the land,sea,sky area.

It could be about the size of an inn room and instanced no problem. It's implied we rest briefly at places like inn rooms, Waking Sands, or Reach on downtime. But we dont actually have any form of residence. Or is it normal for Adventurers to just pass out in Pearl Lane or an alley?
