The game constantly nags you with it though. It really gives you the impression that its a hard time limit. Its one of the main reason new players drop the game, because they feel like they can't take their time to explore and get a feel for the world.

Age of Decadence is probably the closest you're going to get. It's fucking great.

Underrail gets ignored a lot because it soudns too similar to Undertale, however it's the closest modern game to old Fallout.

specialize, don't pick too many skills to invest with. Forget about being a pacifist, the game has more focus on combat than world building. Take time to read all the stats and skills. If you're not good at memorizing paths you took, you might need a notebook as the game offers no map, yet the world is decently large to get lost in for hours. If you don't want a psi character, don't let the doctor at the start do something to you, it permanently removes 20% of hp in order to make you into a psi character.

It's shorter than most CRPGs, but is incredibly replayable. 3 different playthroughs will be 3 entirely different experiences, and you'll learn more about the world and story each time.

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising. Takes place after Fallout 2. At this point, I'll play anything Classic Fallout. Fallout 1.5 is good though.
