In the wizardry games it just meant that you cannot unequip the item unless you cast dispel curse onto the character holding the cursed weapon.

Note that the cursed status (in Wiz6-8) only means you may not swap it out. If it were harmful, say it would poison you or drain life you, that would be a second weapon status. Yes, these very powerful lategame items exist in the Wiz games, but I really doubt that an early game item has such a condition.

I'd just use it for now.

For charged rods, you have two options. First option is to use them by selecting the Use action then clicking on the item during combat. Any character can do this but I think they need to have a decent Invocation skill otherwise the spell will backfire. Second option is to equip it on a character's alternate/secondary weapon slot. Only bugs I've seen had to do with the UI and the screen scaling options. I got a random crash once in 10 hours of play and never encountered it again. I'm actually playing the outdated pirated release but I'll buy it in a few days when I get money so I don't have to worry about keeping up with the updates.

It's a very fun game if you give a shit about level design and encounter design. I haven't played a game with this game's density of secrets and interesting stuff, there's always something unique around every corner. Gameplay is very challenging, beating the Green Hand Gang is one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had in an RPG. Soundtrack is 10/10, it doesn't get praised enough.

You can only select groups of enemies to hit, you can't choose which individual in a group to attack. Same as in the Wizardry games, I think.

The number beside your character dictates which group that character will be attacking. You can click on it to change the target. The topmost group/enemy on the list is the one in front. For short range characters, they have no choice but to attack the enemy at the front. In this screenshot, I'm telling my spellcaster to attack the enemy at the back.

saurians have some decent racial bonuses and their melee attacks are base 3d4

once you get the skill up hitting 15+ with reasonable accuracy is easy

sage can equip music instruments, and if you give the bard the thistle whistle the first few areas should be stupid easy

tanks absorb hits, saurians murder, sage charms with a lute and uses heals / utility magic, bard charms and does random thistle procs
