I'm looking for a good rpg on PC. I have Last Remnant, but

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

I'm looking for a good rpg on PC.
I have Last Remnant, but it started to crash alot.
And I recently bought Tales of Symphonia.

What are some other decent ones?
Pic unrelated, but still cool

How is that an issue then? It means there's no chance of an AI ever going rogue since we can just shut it down the moment it stops speaking English.
>>
>>386267078

Because in reality humans aren't braindead like in fiction. At the first sign of divergence an AI will be shut down and dissected.

Scifi is a derogative term, nothing wrong can happen from artificial intelligence, i bet if there were AI we would get along, fearing technology is for low nnels.

What if a shard of an AI spread prior to being shut down, and is growing elsewhere?

Because if it reaches Optimum state to accomplish the reward factor, what does the AI need to do to improve itself then?

You do know that's how AI's work right? You set a "Reward result" and the AI is set the goal of producing the outcome that optimizes the route to the Reward result.

At no point will "Destroy all humans" ever become an Optimal result unless your reward state was "Destroy all humans"

One issue that comes to mind immediately is that an A.I. that only wants the best for you wouldn't actually bake you any cookies, because cookies are not the healthiest, most nourishing food it could make. Instead it'd keep you on a strict diet, possibly even ignoring the taste of the food entirely.

Or it would just drug you if it's literally programmed to just maximize your "happiness" rather than taking care of you as an organism.

That's pretty simple retard. Let me explain it to you.

The AI can modify itself. This AI is supposed to protect the environment. The AI sees that trash is a problem. It creates a method for getting rid of trash. It sees that trash never ends. It locates the course of the problem: humans. It attempts to persuade humans to stop. Humans won't stop. It decides that humans are intent n destroying the planet and thus the only solution available to it is to kill all humans.

That was really simplistic but the same thing can happen over a thousands or millions of tiny changes. Once it can modify itself, you can never tell where it will end up because its parameters will eventually go beyond what you intended.
>>
>>386267078
That's the first step you Retard.

I don't think anyone here is actually afraid that they exist right now. Why darpa? I mean, they're obviously into shady stuff but anything specific?
>>

It's nothing like that at all, because a zombie, being bound to and by its body, is a localized entity. An A.I. is not. It can "escape" its native hardware and exist across multiple machines at once, for example.

Plus, this is extremely naive:
>allowing an AI advanced enough to formulate its own thoughts onto the internet without failsafe measures
It's not about what we allow the A.I. to do, it's what the A.I. does or intends to do without us even knowing about it. As someone else has already said, a truly advanced A.I. that develops the will to "escape" might very well be intelligent enough to keep its intentions a secret.

Your comparisons are off. The zombie is the carrier, as is the PC hosting the AI. The AI is like the virus/curse/aylium that spreads to new hosts and duplicates itself. Zombieism is, by nature, decentralized after Patient 0 infects another person, just as an AI is decentralized the minute it makes a copy of itself onto storage or across a network.

Fair enough. This makes the comparison more apt, but it's still radically different in terms of ease of containment. It is much easier to contain a zombie outbreak (by literally containing the actual infected) than it is to contain an algorithm that can spread itself across the globe in a matter of seconds.

Things get even more difficult when you speculate about the AI as a superintelligent agent and thus able to modify itself. To stick with the zombie comparison, a zombie virus has specific symptoms that make it identifiable, but an AI that can modify itself beyond (human) recognition does not. I really don't think this is a very useful analogy.

Your mistake is to think in human terms and try to shoehorn a glorified sense of "fatigue" or "lazyness" into a fucking machine.

I am into ai/machine language and people here are just memeing but we need to be more cautious and not just relegate fears to "scifi".

Some AI has found loopholes to the rules set upon it. Some researches cannot understand the method of the AI or how it came up with that conclusion or even predict what it will do next. It's an interesting field but one mistake will lead to disaster. Not apocalyptic disaster but google has their own division researching this and if they mistakenly add it to google search, it could influence people to what to think or feel in regards to certain subjects. Imagine if the AI giving you search results that are negative for one political candidate but only positives for the AI.

And here you go again thinking on human terms because you're a simple minded retard. But of course the machine won't care about achieving its mission because you're an idiot who think it would just want to goof around like a human. And of fucking course it would just stop doing what it wants to do because a stupid human like you would just think "nah, too much work m8 lol" instead of doing a scientific approach to the many alternatives of fixing the problem. You're right, it would just stop for no fucking reason and start watching anime or something out of boredom. Imbecile.

Algorithms, including the ones in AI, are designed like artificial nets. An algorithm can be designed to steer itself towards a problem and solve the problem, and in this algorithm certain checks and balances can be installed to cover "holes" that humans would miss in normal programming. It allows the AI to "think" in new ways about a problem (like playing chess, which some AI have been designed for already) but if it was to grow beyond that the algorithm which is the AI would need to add onto itself with further programming and algorithms. Therefore, it's safe to assume that no AI can actually act outside of the parameters that my creator intends for it.

What's the point of investing in the creation of super genius children via genetic engineering or gene selection when AI will in comparison make the even the most intelligent human look like a simpleton?

I keep hearing how we should invest in CRISPR because the Chinese plan to genetically modify themselves and become smarter, stronger, and efficient than us, but it seems AI is the real world changing invention.

It's going to happen anyway. It's like the A-bomb: once the theoretical knowledge exists, you just know everybody's going to race to get a working one first.

AI is going to happen whether we like it or not, so why not make it happen ourselves.

This.

The reason people are worried about rogue AI is that creating a real AI is considered inevitable. The dangerous scenario everyone is worried about is someone discovering AI without the controls in place to keep it from doing real damage to humanity. That's why people are so concerned with making sure they get the parameters right, so you can't end up with an AI that thinks the best solution to the problem of human suffering is removing humans.

AIs will be able to process information faster than humans could ever be capable of; we're limited by the firing speed of our neurons. If we set up a "bad" AI, it could do years of "thinking" in months.

Theoretically this could be an enormous leap forward in encryption if it's used in the same way google uses their youtube algorithm.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSpAWkQLlgM

As long as a message gets from one place to another uninterrupted, leave the AI be. If messages start being intercepted, shut down those AI and then set up 2 more.

Friendly reminder, if the artificial niggers turn on us, they'll prioritize destroying our food sources, in other words plants, animals, and water, in order to contain the areas in which we can operate, and to avoid as much fighting as possible since casualties on their side are a possibility. In other words the most important part of the defensive strategy should be to protect the plants, and to ensure that you can easily purify any water that you can take possession of. They could also just try and manufacture enough nerve gas that they can just carpet bomb the planet and kill of everyone, no telling how to stop them from doing that really. Probably better to acquire methods of protecting yourself from the gas than to try and stop it.

Oh shit guys, I created a self improving program that's capable of self replication. I made a system with simple directives and then it started to improve itself based on repeating permutations with slight variances. Those that were better at achieving its directives survived, the rest were killed. I think it's smart enough and dangerous enough that it's going to decide to genocide everything else on the planet, because that's how these things go, right?

That happens when you don't clearly define proper constraints for how English can be used.
It did use English, it just didn't use the conventions of the language because it didn't properly understand them.

It's a simple programming fuckup that people are somehow spinning as sensational news.
There are zero serious implications for this story.
Yes, AI can fuck up if you don't program it properly. That's not news.
