Valve don't work on what's really important - like fixing your social networking problems the game has.
It's one of those that REQUIRES a full stack of friends to enjoy, but most players don't even have friends that at the least play on their level. Just leaving an option to solo queue isn't good enough, least of all with how the only way to learn to git gud is to play with a competent team to get the environment to actually learn new things.

I played it from 2013 to 2016 and regret it. It's a solid game, but you seriously don't realize how much time you blow on a single Dota match and how often you are just miserable while playing due to the actually satisfying matches not even occuring that often until you actually take a break from the game and play other games. Other games could be any other genre, or even other MOBAs like smite or gigantic or something.

After quitting and going to other games, then trying to come back, I just felt like the matches dragged on too long and, while I still enjoyed it a bit, I felt like I could be enjoying another game twice as much and be doing twice or three times as many matches in the time of one match of Dota that could've been a turtle match or stomp. 7.00 pretty much put the nail in the coffin for me with its drastic changes and uglier UI turning me off the game for good. I especially didn't want to have to basically relearn the game AND the new map changes as a support player who was already in a higher MMR.

I still love the characters and webms of the game though, I just don't play it anymore and recommend others stay away from it.

I've actually did play 2 games few an hour ago, first time in 3 years.

First game we got stomped 20-60. I was at 0/16/2 with CM. They got fed Pudge, QM and AM.

So that wasn't fun.

I started next game. With Disruptor. It wasn't too great either, but there was potential to pull it through. So one of my team mates left, and then everyone left.

Then I remember why I stopped playing Dota 2, and uninstalled it.

like in CS, PD2 or TF2 if you're either tired after work, drunk or generally too fucked up to play properly you can just dick around and have a good time

with games like dota every game is strap in serious mode. it's a good game, i enjoyed trying to learn it, but it's just too serious to play long term

Actually, custom games is pretty fun and has time to dick around. Especially the 10v10 mode. Just not REAL matches.

Plebbit has pretty significant affection on Valve's actions.
For instance, they've changed the underwater map terrain for TI7 just recently after Plebbit voted for that because they didn't like the terrain and wanted the default one.

I can empathize with this, though I still enjoy playing this.

I used to play league of legends, up to the point where I got bored of how every single match was pretty much the same shit. Moving to DotA gave me so much more variety, but jesus fucking christ it can be really taxing. It actually takes a fair bit of focus and mental stamina in upper MMR games, and even slight neglect can get punished badly.

Especially after a full day of work, sometimes I straight up don't have the energy for a dota game. It's fun, and engaging, but it takes a lot out of you.
