I want to love this game. I really do. I play it a lot and I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. But, part of that is because I've been with it for so long that it's hard to abandon. If you're a new player, think carefully before you start playing this game.

There is a lot of good in this game. Building new characters is loads of fun. Theorizing new builds and equipment combinations is a blast. Even just finding a new piece of equipment or a cool skill gem is thrilling. The sheer amount of content discovery and customization is mindbogglingly awesome.

Underneath that vineer, however, is some very poorly thought out mechanics and gameplay. The controls for an ARPG don't suite some of the fights in this game, where clicking on an item when you meant to move can easily get you killed. This can be incredibly frustrating, especially considering that there is a mandatory dungeon that, when you die in, forces you to redo all of its content. The stun mechanic prevents you from playing any damage build if you lack several powerful items. In fact, many veteran players will advocate that your entire passive tree be devoted to defense. This places many, if not most builds, out of reach of the average player. There are many gems and passives that are strictly better than others. For example, the skill, Kinetic Blast, is strictly better than the skill, Power Siphon. Lack of this knowledge can result in many wasted characters. To top it off, GGG prevents you from respecing your character, so you're forced to make a new one. Lastly, there are ridiculous difficulty spikes in the game. You could be chewing through content seemlessly and then come to a single enemy who completely decimates you. I've had many characters get to the end of cruel and merciless with ease only to find myself dying repeatedly to Daresso's Dream and Malachai. It takes the enjoyment out of the game when you find your build lacking without any indication that it was bad even just a level ago.

The game itself is great. i liked the way you can mix skills, and make you character as you want.
The problem is in their support, and their servers. GGG doesnt allowed talking about it on their forums, they are just ignoring the problem. there is a packet loss which happens randomly, and it just disconnecting you from the server.
This packet loss happenning on their side of the connection, and they just dont want to test it. They are saying only small percent for the players have this problem ( 10%-20% as they said, which it is large number of players, around 2000 players atleast), so it must be a problem with players' ISP or computers.
This makes zero sense as people shows from diffrent computers, and from diffrent ISP the same problem.

you may have problems to play this game, and if you does, say goodbye to this game, because GGG wont fix it.

This game was fun until you start to get to some of the later maps. They become large mazes that are annoying to navigate. Coupled with the terrible minimap (you can't zoom out, or pan around) things become frustrating.

Once you hit the Labyrinth, the game tanks. Playing that map (or series of maps) was one of the most tedious things I've ever experienced in a game. You can't leave the bigger minimap on your screen because it'll cover up the traps you have to avoid. You have to go through a series of levels that culminate in a boss fight that not only has an OP boss, but tons of traps and spawning creeps. It becomes very hard because the controls are clumsy and there are many times where you try to move to dodge a trap or a boss projectile, but instead you end up swinging at one of the minions (because you clicked on them when you tried to move). If you end up dying, you have to start the entire thing from the begining.

All this game is, is a Diablo grinding game. It's grinding for grinding's sake. I guess that's what all MMO's are, but the game does very little to encourage interaction with other players. And if the grinding isn't fun - what's the point? Labryinth killed it for me.

Too damn many. 6 (later 7th unlockable) characters but while they start somewhere on the passive tree (Witch is magical, Ranger like bow stuff, etc) that doesn't mean the Witch can't take a path right into wielding giant mauls or the big dumb looking Marauder can't learn how to summon skeletons and use spells. Summon Raging Spirit - Tags: Spell, Fire, Minion ... there is no informaiton in the game that only minion damage is relevant for this spell this has spoiled my complete passive choises.

I am incredibly frustrated and I can delete this character now. This is one example for bad ingame feedback/information - other examples are exact damage numbers, concealed information like running speed deductions when one carries a chest armor. There is a difference between a complicated game and bad feedback

I heard good things about this game. The complexity, the gameplay, the world size, the customization and variety in builds,

I was disappointed. From the graphics, which honestly made me a little nauseous while running around, to the clunky and unoptimized combat system and interface, to the lack of soul or identity in the game past the initial character creation screen, I can go on about why this game gave me both a headache and failed to capture my interest.

After doing a bunch of research into the game's mechanics and builds and endgame, as well as player interaction and leagues, I just couldnt bear to keep playing. The game plays and looks like an early Playstation 2 title, with little to justify the lack of polish in controls, visuals or mechanics. And then, apparently after all the grinding to get to endgame, it's still sub-par according to many players, and critics.

Even as a free game, I cant find enjoyment in the gameplay or atmosphere or visuals. Im at a loss as to how it holds its current (though unsuprisingly dwindling) playerbase. Might as well pick up Diablo 3 or Grim Dawn, you'll almost certainly be better off.

One of the most hate-filled, angsty, teenage communities I've ever seen in an online game. Don't even think about asking for help in global chat, you'll get flamed by multiple people at once, multiple messages to "kys". Game is great, but only if you play solo. Terribly optimized for group play, so best of luck playing with your friend who got you into the game. If you have lots of money irl, you can just buy "supporter packs" and immediately get favoritism by the company (they'll even throw in a beta key!). They literally turn their heads to rule breaking, because you gave them money.

I bought Grim Dawn to play while waiting for 3.0 to release.

Overall, it's a pretty solid game, but it has the most disappointing ending and final boss I've seen in many, many years. The game I thought was way too easy, even in later difficulties. I don't think most people will get much more than 80-100 hours tops of playtime out of it, which for a quick ARPG to burn some time, it's great, but it's not as good as a loot whoring venture as say PoE
