It was always a game first and foremost, most(if not all) AAA games prioritize ''muh cinematic experience'' above anything else. But it was a great game, even if I didn't enjoy the story up til ending c/d.

The combat is satisfying and not too difficult (unless you change the difficulty of course), the hacking minigame and the SHMUP aspects were also done pretty nice. I however disliked the hacking minigame quite a bit so I tried to avoid it whenever I could, but I still liked how it was integrated in the story, and also how the game presents and integrates lots of other stuff such as how chips affect your capabilities (you can even remove your OS chip and your android body will stop working).

Overall it was a pretty good experience, and I could (eventually) find a lot of well written character development as the story was progressing to it's end, but I wouldn't return to it.

I played it, it was trash.
I completed it because it at least tried to promise some sort of variety in the future to enjoy it.
Where people hated 9S' gameplay, I loved it because I'm a fucking sucker for bullethells.

The actual combat and story are pathetically bad and it's arching undertones about humanism are basic as fuck only a American Highschooler would consider "deep".

It was alright but they were lazy with the gameplay and the story is unironically the worst part about the game, despite focusing so much on it.

My issue with the game is there's zero replay value. It's an extremely entertaining rollercoaster ride from start to finish, but the actual combat is so underdeveloped that there's no actual fun factor that makes you want to keep playing after your first run through all the endings. I personally loved Nier:Automata but I have to admit that it has a lot of flaws when it comes to it's combat system. Nier allows healing spams, mindless grind and worst of all you can obliterate almost every enemy in the game just by running around and shooting lasers. Well, I just think Nier offers little to no challange. There are few enemies that punish you for trying to cheese them out like those partially bulletproof big machines and some bosses you could shoot forever at. Backstabbing in Souls was a little bit different, it was something one had to learn how to use on different foes over and over again while in Nier:Automata you don't need to learn shit and still beat the game. It wouldn't be even that bad if it wasn't combined with all the backtracking issues the game suffers (I like how they managed to minimise the boredom tho). It literally repeatedly throws you into encounters you're sure you can win without getting hit once. I really enjoyed the game, really did. It was probably the best gaming experience since the first Dark Souls or perhaps even RE4. But the fights with mobs (unless they were really numerous) weren't the reason and there's no replayability value for me. Sadly.

I do think it did a little bit with them but some of the references are silly, and I'm pretty sure it was intentional.

Satre was known for his open relationship with Simone in real life, as well as being player, despite him being ugly as fuck.

Its almost like the game is going:

People in general are too uptight about philosphy and how its used. There's alot of silly little references but Satre and Simone are actually pretty well done.


Plus it ties into Ending E's whole thing of having players overcome the loops we're often stuck in of hating each other for stupid shit, just so we can beat the game and allow our trio to overcome their loop.

Hold true for me as well. The first thing I thought the next day after finishing Automata was that it had its flaws but I couldn't care less for them while playing it. Maybe I'm just overthinking shit but I like to imagine how perfect this game could have been if it had a bigger budget.

My problem with 9S was that it's kinda hard to aim hacking on hard when the game decides which enemy to aim at in your stead. Nothing to drop the game for though.

Pretty much every philosopher machine specifically mocks either the personal life or world view of that philosopher. It actually fits the narrative extremely well because N2 was trying to emulate the failure itself with all the little machine societies it kickstarted.
Beepy really fucked up by not staying on the planet for longer so he could share his vision of life and purpose to other machines instead of just granting them consciousness and fucking off.
