Video game AI is not supposed to be GOOD. It's supposed to be believable and fun enough to enjoy the game.
The good AI would just dispatch the player characters as effectively as possible. Nobody would play this kind of game.
Of course it's not an excuse for dumbing down the AI in game any further.

Bot can be given constant wallhacks and automatic tracking of the human enemy through walls and during movement
really bots are already capable of fucking up the player beyond belief but using htos tactics is bullshit
Now, what people really want is bots being able to surprise and outsmart a human player
that shit is hard to do and it's more than modern game devs are willing to work on a game

The point has already been made, but I wanted to post in the thread anyways.

You can make bots 100% impossible to defeat.

It's harder to make bots stupid than it is to make then smart.

A "smart" bot behavior would just be wallhacks and auto aim.

A "dumb" bot's behavior would factor in things to make them more human like; forced inaccuracy, proper sense of awareness, simulated reaction time.

Making a human like bot is the real challenge.

Games are currently so simple and dependent on mechanical performance that machines easily outperform human players. There's also the fact that your means of interacting with the game world are limited and unsophisticated compared to your body in the real world, you can't take full advantage of your potential.The AI can also cheat because it doesn't require an interface to translate its inputs into actions, keyboards and controllers and wagglan are clumsy and have a fraction of input lag which further put humans at a disadvantage.

AI in vidya aren't supposed to represent actual AI, they are designed to act like humans and humans are flawed just like the player

Pitch a game featuring the concept - multiple people trying to take out 1 superhard ai thats not a damage sponge

Pretty much this. Also bots with perfect aiming and prediction already exist. It's juts not fun to play against them because it feels like youre playing against a hacker instead of a skilled rival.
