Does anyone have a copy of a Steam client from the years 2004-2009? Before the new interface. I'm part of a team working on restoring the "classic" interface, but it looks like any traces of the legacy Steam client have been scrubbed out of existence. If you have a copy, please contact our project lead at the following link.

>>
This is kind of pointless considering there's a major UI overhaul coming to Steam pretty soon
>>
>>386099036
I dont remember the interface being that diferent from todays in 2008
>>
>>386099239
There's a niche community of people who prefer the legacy client. It's OK if you're not interested in it, but it's not, in any sense, "pointless."
>>
the current client is fucking garbage. why are the icons so big, why are there so many pictures, why is it important to show news from 6 years ago on my games.

just give me my game list back
>>
>>386099363
If you want to completely misinterpret that post and get overly defensive, that's cool
>>
>>386099473
OK, would you mind explaining how I misinterpreted it? Why is it pointless to restore the legacy client? We have people who are interested. We're interested.
>>
>>386099596
Not that guy, but call it a hunch I don't think you guys are going to get very far.
>>
>>386099337
It looked like Counterstrike 1.5 server browser.
>>
>>386099741
Hmm, I don't remember it being like that when I first started playing TF2, but i have memory issues so maybe it was.
>>
>>386099596
I don't know how designing a theme works, but it's likely that the API or whatever won't work anymore and you would have to start over, so just take that into consideration.
>>
>>386099473
>him: here's a thing we're doing
>you: this is pointless because reason
>him: it's not pointless because other reason
>you: way to misinterpret my post and get all defensive gosh
magnificently and unironically hypocritical, and majestically butthurt all rolled up in one post
fucking 10/10 anon bravo
>>
I think the solid green interface would be cool.
>>
I can help you. I sent you a friend request

>>386100196
Allow me to clarify something. We're working on restoring the client itself--we're not just making a theme.
>>
>>386099596
I think he just meant because the client is changing soon that any modifications you make now will have to be redone
>>
I also liked the legacy interface better but my autism is nowhere near strong enough to want to fuck around with it
>>
my gif has drm give it back
>>
>>386099036
Can't you just find an orange box/half life 2 copy? I think that installed steam from disc.
>>
>>386100298
And your heads are all so far up your asses you didn't feel it necessary to say this from the beginning? And you're so sensitive you immediately jump to defend your little project from the slightest (non)criticism.

This seems like a pretty stable team. Good luck!

The new UI will fucking break this, so it's pointless to do this until the new UI is out or else you'll just end up wasting your time only to end up with something that does not work anymore.

What a fucking waste of time.

Just make a minimalist UI. You literally can't get the client anymore OP. It never existed because it's a minimal installer and only downloads the real program.

IIRC, steam use to run like shit back in 2009.

because it wasnt designed in ms powerpoint like the "modern" metro design right now is

>wanting the old ugly ass green steam

Dunno why ANYONE is nostalgic for old steam.

Steam back in the day was a huge load of shit. It was laggy, it was annoying to have installed, and it made Half-Life 2 a pain in the ass.

On top of that, when they went back and implemented steam into all the goldsrc games like Half-Life and CS, everything became unstable as fuck. Lots of crashing, lots of errors, etc.

Steam back then was like a Trojan virus. I remember when I first installed it, that I thought my game disc had a virus installed.

didn't happen whatsoever because steam is not "implemented into" games in this way. They changed the master server address.

Everyone overexaggerates how bad it was. Your computer sucked because you didn't know what parts to buy and you had a slow hard drive without any doubt.
>>
get a less shit6 computer for christ sake the way steam is now wouldnt even work with the classic interface
