No, it's very shallow and boring, and also an absolute grindfest if you aren't cheating.
Few pokemon are viable, few moves are useful, and the most "complex" strategies are not fun or interesting.

The biggest reason gamefreak doesn't make a pokemon mmo is probably because they understand that the strength of the game is as a single player game, or as a casual pvp one, but it becomes garbage as a minmaxing cookie cutter mmo thing.
