Easily my favorite Donkey Kong game.

Original trilogy's score and art put it slightly over dong freeze.

Problem is it's effectively a free-runner where all you do is jump, and 2/3rds of the time it's just shitty basic mario gameplay at snes mario levels of difficulty, instead of snes dkc levels of difficulty which I really wanted to see.

It could've used an actual extra 7th world instead of just 3 difficult levels but the game is solid

I will not argue that the original trilogy is top tier, it was ahead of its time when we talk about art, but tropical dong is really really addicting, its level design is way better in my book so far, specially compared to Country 3.

/v/ has always loved the entire DKC series as a whole. It's one of the few things Nintendo has somehow managed not to ruin and is the main reason Retro studios is beloved on /v/.
