I find it both unbelievable and hilarious that some people actually bought the game only because they liked 2b design.

2B is still incredibly important for the story as a catalyst for 9S and A2's development at the very least.
Her situation (being locked into killing a guy she loves for 3 years, nearly going insane from it and only being saved from suicide by the very same guy who actually gave her a reason to live outside of her programming) also reinforces all major themes of Automata, Weight of the World and especially Song of a Broken World are both about her and the way game gradually unveils her true personality and feelings for 9S was done incredibly well, flight unit message alone hits like a fucking brick.

hey I loved it, but I can see its flaws especially when MGS3 was right after.

dunno about level design since they were all exciting for the 12 year old me to explore, but the bosses were definitely not the highlight for me. Metal gear ray boss was weird for me since I was surviving getting hit by missles, fatman was annoying because I remember unloading a shit ton of bullets and still not killing the guy, bulletproof vest or not.
