I've been following it for a while and just recently dropped 80 bucks on it. It fucking sucks right now, but it's not even close to done, so I'll be patiently waiting for them to finish it. I really want this game to be good, but if it ends up trash, oh well.

The ships are just rewards for backing. Once the game goes up for release, the ship store gets taken down. From then on, everything will be bought in game. I don't like that they're selling ships for an unreleased game for upwards of $200, but people buy em so they keep letting them buy them, at least for now.
