I really doubt the extra mode would exist without the amiibo, so I don't feel wrong buying and enjoying the base game in the slightest. I would have done it without the existence of the amiibo and amiibo-locked content anyway.

I like Metroid and I pre-ordered both amiibos and the legacy edition, but it is a shitty move to lock gameplay things behind physical toys, specially with such limited stock.
