Singleplyer games are not in danger.

Issue whit multiplayer games is that they are always comparing whit each other.

Basically the "best" 1-2 games win and all other that come after them usually dont stand a chance.
Unless they are so much better than the original.

Literally every moba after LOL and Dota 2 failed.
The few that are still alive are hanging by a thread.

Every FPS other than Cod and Battlefield failed.

Star craft 2 is practically the only truly active online RTS.

Its not even clones new idea MP games are slowly falling like Asymmetric MP games such as Evolve or the game like For honor.
People dpont have time to play more than 4 online games tops.

On the other hand you can finish a single player game.
And if you are hungry for more chances are you will buy a similar game to it.
Also SP games dont require constant updates and server maintenance so they are in general cheaper to make.

but the "Generation Gap" I experience is mostly an online community one. Its just a bunch of guys circlejerking around, trying to be more "meta" or more "meme" or more "4chan" then each other now.

I like never look on 4chan for online communities anymore. No idea what happened. I have been here for a decade too (I know, underaged lol). Not that I care how long someone has been on the internet, but the recent influx of the unbearable on steam groups (and now discord) is noticeable.

I literally have to change my clothes if I switch games. I'm the opposite, if a game is multiplayer I'm not interested. If it's got singleplayer and multiplayer i'm also not particularly interested since they tend to focus on the multi and give you a boring shitty campaign that lasts 30 seconds.

here's the problem: games cost anywhere from 50 - 60 dollars, right? from an investment standpoint, it makes no sense to buy something with only single player and 15 or so hours of content at the the same price as something with potentially infinite replayability.

i think that's much of the difficulty. i'm with you, i love single player as much as the next guy, but i have a hard time at this point paying that price for anything with around 15 hours of content, i'll just wait for a sale in a few years and get it for like 7 dollars on steam.

in addition, if it's a single player only FPS of any type, then it's likely useless without multiplayer. the whole genre is polluted
