or you can create companions with the hire adventurer option

hire a rouge or barbarian, or both, i really liked them

How are Priests? Are they just glorified healsluts with a few AoE spells or can I annoy and debilitate the fuck out of enemies?

Any class can really fulfill any role. I made a Priest offtank to supplement Eder and he's actually doing pretty great so far.
