The base formula for BOTW is fantastic, the game just needs more content. More enemy types, more dungeons, ect. They can easily take what they learned making BOTW and make something truly spectacular going forward if they stick with it.

I think Odyssey does a lot more things right. It took the 64 and Sunshine formula people have been asking for for so long, expand on it, add some Galaxy elements and a tiny bit of 3D World's good elements. They're basically Mario 64 and Sunshine's levels but much bigger and a whole lot more in them, plus linear paths with objectives that are very Galaxy-esque. A lot of the moons are pretty easy to find, but the way you obtain them is so much more varied than the repeated korok puzzles and shrines in Botw. And there are still big objectives that give moons, there's just a lot of extra ones on the side.
