Also how grindy are we talking? I'm playing Stella Glow on my 3DS, a while I'm enjoying the game play and the characters, there's way more talking than fighting and it can be a bit bothersome.

If there's like an open world section or whatever where I can just mull about and pick fights or some shit, I'm so down for it.

Also if you get it for Switch it's the complete edition with all the DLC, but you should keep in mind that some of the things you can claim from the dlc npc are meant to give you a huge help at the start of the game and those rewards will break the balance, so you may want to skip those.

there is kind of an open world section. All of the talking is in the story. I guess by open world it would be the item world which is a thing where you go inside of items that have randomly gen'd platforms and enemies for you to kill. You go through floors and floors and floors of it. It's purpose is to level up the item you went into. My best advice is to just give it a youtube search to get an idea of what you would be playing.

Yeah, Disgaea is gonna be one of the best RPGs on the Switch for a long time. The games are standalone so you don't need to play the other games. It has a shitload of content and is bursting at the seams with weebshit. You'll get ~100+ hours minimum out of this game since postgame stuff is so easy to get into.
It's so damn cozy on handheld too, would recommend.

The grind is only so-so, but there's no grinding required for the main story. There's a lot of character interaction if that's your deal. There's no open world section but there is a limitless random dungeon generator that makes your items stronger, that seems to be what you're looking for.

Pic Related is the second worst in the series after Disgaea 2. Still a pretty good game by my standards.

And to answer your question they are fun to play if you like its brand of humor and enjoy Weeb games. My recommendation would be to ignore level grinding until you complete the main story.

I like disgaea a lot and have played all of them besides the 3rd game. Even though i don't consider it to be a great strategy game i definitely seen it as a bit of therapy with how mindless it is and how nice it can be to just autopilot something while mindlessly grinding up some gear, levels, mana, or HL if that ever was needed.

oh, that maybe. I don't know mechanics of each game too well yet. I basically played them all in spawn of 3 years, never beat Baal in any of them either, just mostly story, side modes and solid portion of postgame.
