>Literally "Nicest guy you'll ever meet and twisted fucking psychopath" - The Game
Actually turns out it's nicest psychopath you'll ever meet and twisted fucking nice guy
>>385977261
Pretty much both. One moment he'll be raring to tear someone's shit up, next he'll just be a jackass who might say he'll tear someone's shit up. Got to wonder how Hershel raised such a crazy kid.
>>385977464
Katrielle didn't exactly turn out to be a gentlewoman either, so chance is he is a shitty parent
>>385977567
Probably went to crazy adventures by himself and didn't see the kids for a while.
>>385977464
>Got to wonder how Hershel raised such a crazy kid.
>Dad i want this toy
>Speaking of toys son that reminds me about a riddle
Jak II?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUAnJyJPcnY
>>385977567
What did she do that's so bad? Can't be anything as bad as threatening to cut out people's tongues and practically having a boner for murder.
>>385977707
Maybe if Jak had kept his goody two-shoes persona from the original game. But Jak in Jak II was pretty much a Jakass who could turn into a murderous psycho if provoked.
>>385977697
>Son, did you solve that puzzle box I bought you?
>No, father. I still haven't completed the other sixteen you purchase for me.
>That is, most unfortunate.
>>385977792
Nothing on those lines, but she is definitely very prone to laziness and using being a "gentlewoman" as an excuse to do dumb shit
Her investigation methods are also her just getting sidetracked and accidentally walking into solutions
>>385977985
>Speaking of disappointment, that reminds me of a puzzle
>>385978008
>Literally "Nicest guy you'll ever meet and twisted fucking psychopath" - The Book
>>385977792
>Oh yeah that happened the game
>>385978008
And now it just sounds bad.
>>385977985
He did literally disappear from kats life with a puzzle
>>385978179
Didn't mean to quote
>>385978179
fuck you i was gonna post that
>>385978212
Don't get me wrong, it still has some neat puzzles and some bullshit ones. So if you play layton games for those it's gold.
But her character plus the case based narrative don't lend themselves to a very good story
>>385978110
>Hmm, this paddle I'm holding reminds me of a certain puzzle involving your dear, sweet mother
>>385978402
To be fair, the story in the Layton series has never been that gripping. It's more about the zany twist that caps off everything.
It's hard to raise children correctly when you see a matchstick and start having ptsd flashbacks
>>385979610
>>385977792
>5 minutes in
>Muh quirky talking dog
>Beta orbiter assistant
>Katrielle dismisses her client because another case sounds more interesting
I'm in for a real ride eh?
I miss the professor already.
>>385979545
The thing is even the twists can't be that great because instead of having the whole game to set them up and flesh them out you have 1 out of 12 cases.
>>385979545
Yo, look at that phat ass.
>>385979812
Well she does eat a lot
>>385979958
I like them making mystery room officially canon
And if you do all the puzzles you get an extra bit of correspondence between kat and lucy
>>385979793
They are trying something different, which is nice instead of just rehashing what they had done for the two trilogies.
>>385980120
Don't see why they would have dismissed from the canon. Japan seems to be less into the idea of retcons compared to American media like comics where you'll see a character (or more) and entire storylines be removed either through convoluted bullshit or just ignored and swept under the rug.
Still, kind of strange Kat isn't contacting Al, unless they're on bad terms.
Would one of kind gentlemen in this post post megalink for the games?
>>385980136
Sure, I can appreciate that
The character just seems a tiny bit too cutesy, too pandering to the "KAT IS 2 CUTE" crowd, and none of the case solutions feel like they are earned, it all feels very uninteractive despite there being an opportunity to have the player participate in the case solving.
It doesn't help that all the cases are quirky things like pretend murders or missing cats, the tone change is very noticeable and coming down from fucking about with time machines rather dull
>>385980283
The final letter between kat and lucy says something like "Layton going missing has me and alfendi going crazy", so they are on at least neutral terms
>>385980598
Eh, the series has never really been that good with its resolutions. They're always so bizarre and over the top, and often revealed by the characters rather than given to the player through hints so they can piece it together and feel like they've got the whole picture before the professor does. Still, fun series regardless.
>>385980717
Wonder how Lucy got into contact with her, given she was only told about Al's brother, which we still don't know if he still exists or was retconned into Kat (or was really Potty Prof).
>>385980821
I agree but it feels far more apparent and irritating when it happens 12 times instead of once at the very end of the game
>>385977001
>>385979776
>>385977985
Honestly if layton is that shit of a father, its gonna come down to this.
And if its true, no wonder he vanished.
>>385981978
The end of mystery journey ends on this riddle that layton left to katrielle before vanishing like the puzzle chasing faggot he is
"If you are not really my daughter, what are you"
>>385982109
Wonder if he's going to have amnesia like that dog.
Or maybe he is the fucking dog, stranger shit has happened.
>>385981978
Wouldn't surprise me if he adopted them like he did with Flora.
He probably never dated anyone else after the whole Claire shitfest breaking him inside.
>>385982321
We don't fucking know because kat forgot to solve that fucking case because she got distracted
>>385977001
is that okabe rintaro
>>385977792
She's actually kind of a bitch, but I like it. At one point the female rival accuses her of pretending something, and she says something along the lines of "If I was that good at pretending I could pretend to like you." But it's not with like an angry face. She's just a casual bitch.
>>385983104
That sounds awful.
>you'll never comfort Justin's feet after a long day of work
why even live?
>>385983191
Sounds pretty funny, at least she's not a copy-paste of daddy or another headcase like her big bro
>>385983191
Nah, it's great. Maybe bitch was the wrong word, it's not like she's really being malicious. Perfetti banters back at her.
>>385983292
Wouldn't mind nuzzling up against Hilda's chest. Damn, she was rocking some serious titty game, as was Goldie.
>>385979812
Dem hips
>>385983292
Got more of these? Seems like it's impossible to find a lot of the stuff from the game without it either having a shit resolution or more artifacts than early 00s porn.
>>385983104
Actually that sounds quintessentially british.
>Main character is a bitch, assistant is a horny bootlicker, and the dog is just comic relief
Holy fuck, Alfendi was a complete psycopath and still managed to be more likeable.
>>385985094
I like Katrielle, but I agree Ernest and Sherl are pretty much wastes of space. But given the punny nature of the names I haven't given up hope that Ernest will do something interesting.
>>385985094
I like that they're colorful like that. A lot of the times with these spinoff series, they just ape everything the original did with some minor tweaks. Having Al and Kat's teams be their own thing at least means their success or failure to entertain is more a matter of preference than fatigue from the rehashing of characteristics.
How the fuck is Granny Riddleton still alive? She was already ancient in the prequel trilogy.
>>385985470
PUZZLES, MY DEAR BOY!
>>385985470
She might as well be fucking dead since you have to backtrack for all the puzzles now
>>385982321
>Or maybe he is the fucking dog, stranger shit has happened.
>"If that's a real film, then I'm a professor in archaeology!"
He probably is.
>>385986609
Oh no, it is
>>385987308
>>385985470What if the granny in the first trilogy's actually one of the robot replicas built by Bruno, and the original died without anybody knowing about it?
>>385987663
Sounds legit
>>385985094
I actually wonder what it was like for these two growing up, considering how they turned out.
>>385988217
I imagine the professor was a good father, since Al does mention him in a respectful manner.
Whatever puzzle has dragged him away from Kat must be pretty big.
>>385987609
Got an artist?
>>385988384
Don't know about the bunny girl Lucy pic, but here's a chick who's done a bunch of stuff. Some of which was already posted here.
http://syokusyumare.tumblr.com/
>>385983104
That's actually kind of surprising given the professor's gentlemanly demeanor. But then again, a lot of kids try to be as distant from their parents as possible. Even if their parents are total saints.
>>385977792
>murder in a layton game
This is gonna take some getting used to.
Fuck I'm gonna have to dodge spoilers till november, why couldn't level 9 release the 3DS version same day like Japan?
>>385982641
Wrong timeline, el psy congoroo.
>>385988809
Don't know about Lady Layton having murder, but I was talking about Mystery Room, which is basically like Ace Attorney levels of violent, if not more so.
>>385989624
Are you cereal?
I was intrigued...
>>385990167
Have you tried MR? Because it's pretty fun. And like I said, I don't know if Lady Layton has any murder in it, though probably not given the mainline series was always iffy about actual death and always faking out people.
>>385990269
Is only for ipad?
Holy fuck half these mysteries are literally "IT WAS JUST A PRANK BRO"
>>385991961
Mystery Room is iOS only, yes. So you can either play on a tablet or phone, whichever works for ya. Lady Layton on the other hand, is currently only on iOS, but will be getting a 3DS release in the early fall.
>>385992227
Wait
Wait
Wait
For 3ds?
I'm sold now!
>>385992227
>>385991961
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Level_5.MysteryRoomENG&hl=en
Not anymore, though I wouldn't be surprised if no one noticed because it just popped up on the playstore one day
Not sure if i buy the new layton now on the phone or wait for the 3ds, from what im reading the phone version + dlc costs almost exactly the same as a 3ds game.
>>385992412
Not sure what this means, is it playable on PC too now?
>>385992601
It means it can be played on Android phones as well, although you COULD try to use an android emulator...
Look up how to set one up, it's not super hard
>>385992541
Pretty much. It's basically boils down to whether you want to get everything in a single go on 3DS, or get the phone version and have to select all the DLC packs. Far as I understand, there won't be much difference in terms of the playability, and of course no version-exclusive stuff.
>>385992724
And I said iOS, which means phones and other devices
i only played a few of the original layton games and the AA crossover
give me the rundown on nu layton
>>385992827
Pretty much the same old ballgame as before, but with some changes.
>Picarats can decrease 4 times now instead of 2
>You can find up to 10 hint coins
>Puzzles can be tracked down later on instead of being lost and sent to Granny
>You can dress up Kat in various outfits (many of which reference other Level-5 games, like Yokai Watch)
>>385994076
Kek
>>385994445
>>385994076
>You can dress up Kat in various outfits
Best Layton game ever, 10/10. Unlost Future can't even compete.
>>385994527
Well of course, got to keep our kats dressed nice and warm!
>>385992819
iOS refers specifically to Apple products, as those are what have it. It is not shorthand for mobile devices.
>>385994694
Same shit.
>>385994849
No, it's not. There are things that are actually only on iOS or Android.
>>385994948
It's all the same shit, phones and tablets
tell me this game was good /v/ros
>>385995016
It's okay to be wrong sometimes.
>>385995040
It's pretty fun if you ever played something Ace Attorney Investigations, but it does lack consequence for getting things wrong. You can't really "lose" in the traditional sense, just get told what you said wrong and then have to present the correct answer.
>>385995147
It's ok to not give a fuck about petty little distinctions
what did they mean to tell lucy not to be a lone with potty prof
>>385995228
>this game is coming to gog guys
>no it's coming to steam
>w-who cares, it's the same shit
>>385996165
I said phones and tablets, idiot. But please, keep being autistic over such a minor detail
>>385996078
Judging by the ending, I think it may have been a false alarm. Everyone in Scotland Yard was made to think Potty Prof was something akin to a killer and dangerous to be around, but even when he slipped out a few times with only Lucy around, he didn't lash out. It was probably just a way for the real villain to keep Potty Prof from blabbing to someone who might help him out.
>>385996436
Well yeah. Alfendi wasn't a psycho, just a gigantic asshole who liked to talk about cutting off tongues when he was annoyed, which made making him look dangerous pretty easy.
>>385996612
Well that, and being frustrated by the fact that a good chunk of his memory was gone and buried under a lie. He was insulted that someone would basically tamper with his mind and intellect, can't really blame him for coming off as a little fire-tongued.
Katrielle's lucky guesses are bullshit, but I like Perfetti even if she's a mystery jobber
>>385997826
Wouldn't be Layton without some kind of bullshittery.
I should play Mystery Room again. I remember I left the game at the last case because I got stuck during the investigation of a fucking huge mansion with lots of useless shit.
I'll play it again from the top, because the only things that I remember from the game is that the cases weren't that great, but the characters were pretty goodand that the killer from one case was revealed from the moment they were introduced because their name was something in Spanish that pretty much translated to Shesdee Keeller
>>385998229
Yea, last few cases are a bit of a drag since they suddenly drop the matrix room stuff and take you to the actual places for puzzles that are somewhat like the original Layton stuff, just without the questions about "How do you make this shit work? 50/50 picarats"
