I played it with an i5 3750k and a 670 4GB, played with pretty high, but not maxed settings and got near flawless 60 FPS with the FAR fix

people that say it doesn't work for them either have an odd build that wasn't accounted for, or just flat out didn't use the fix or try to correct any issues they had with the game thinking nobody ever had to mod a game to make it work properly, the nice thing with PC you can actually fix it, with consoles - tough shit bitch.

The gameplay is 'meh' for a platinum game, but great for a yoko taro game, that rests on which side of the fence you were sitting on, you'll fall on one side or the other if you haven't played games from either creator before. The story is actually pretty deep, but people think that any attempt at making a meaningful story is stupid and a waste of time - it tried to do something interesting, which is a lot more than what I can say for most games these days. It also made EXCELLENT use of its art direction, and music - it's actually pleasant to just walk around and take in the sights and sounds.

FAR did for near a tomato, what DSfix did for Dark Souls, we live in an age where a hobbyist can fix games made by full fledge team of professionals.

Problematic issues aside, the game just isn't good and lacks a strong philisophical narrative. The characters are only skin deep despite their pseudopsychobable and the robot designs are laughably basic. But in the end, the devs made a very poor choice in their characterization of feminine exposure and violence toward women which really hurt the game in an enlightened western market.

Western developers (Hollywood, game producers, politicians) are balls deep into social ideology. The older generation did this as a means to hold onto power. Basically allying themselves with the leftist movement, who was in power for the last 12 years. But they don't really believe in it.
